The game is as relevant and popular as ever - even moreso than before. Breaking every convention that game shelf life usually ascribes to, GTA 5 and Online only ever saw an increase in active players and sales as time went on, following the initial spike at launch. Every year Rockstar will share, once or twice, that the highest concurrent player count record was broken. Every quarter the sales metric is updated with millions of shipped copies.

Unless a game is an MMO or becomes an e-sport hit that developers choose to infinitely iterate upon instead of follow up with a sequel, games tend to fizzle out in terms of relevance and mass appeal 7 years after release, even if they're the biggest AAA releases around. Sure, people will still mention them and play them occasionally, and some will even buy them if they missed out at the time, but they're not part of the zeitgeist. Things are very different with GTA 5.

There is good news this week got GTA's super-rich super yacht owners, though. Rockstar has added six super yacht missions. Finally, a reason to spend a massive amount of money on a giant static boat. Players' bank accounts will still look a lot lighter than they did before the bumper purchase, though. GTA's six super yacht missions only pay $27,000 each. here

GTA's super yachts look impressive that's for sure, but beyond that, they have no use. Players who own one can't even sail the yachts themselves. They have to hire a captain to do it for them which costs $25,000 each time. Since the cheapest super yacht costs $6 million, additional money just to move them around seems like a little much.

I like mine, but there is no objective defense of the huge expense. The boats and heli could be bought, and millions saved. Piracy prevention is fun, but you'd have to do like 200 of them to pay for the yacht. The only real reason to buy one is subjective. it feels nice and peaceful, it's luxurious, it makes you feel rich. I like spawning outside the city, and access to the chopper makes it less inconvenient to do so. [links]
