At my old waterfront, I had a pretty heavy aluminum angle bracket that I used to rig up my ice-eater bolted to a piece of treated 2x10 & it had turned to powder within a year. more

I put a P/T transom into my Starcraft Islander over 6 Years ago,+ can find absolutely NO ill effects.

Is marine-grade plywood as safe as pressure-treated plywood from insects and rot?

Sorry I missed this comment, Merv. PT wood will last a very long time. If possible replace the whole floor with PT marine -grade plywood over PT framing for support. That should survive a very long time. Best of luck with that project! more

I have An older Lund Fiberglas boat and the 1/2’’ plywood fiberglass covered floor has completely rotted out. I replaced a portion of the floor with ACQ pressure treated lumber a few years ago. I left some areas of original floor that looked good and they have now rotted . The only portion of floor that is still solid is the PT replaced area. I do not know if original plywood was marine grade. more
