The Beneteau Swift Trawler 41 is a new addition to the swift trawler fleet and an excellent option for families. She’s affordable, spacious, and great on fuel — at a top speed of 23 knots, she can drive to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale with plenty of fuel left to cruise around and return without a refill.

This 86′ Outer Reef Yacht, named Simon Says, was designed for travel. Her systems were built and optimized for sea conditions that would otherwise prevent a similar size yacht to seek shelter in the closest port. This trawler is made to accommodate a family, plus crew with eight cabins in total. more

If there are no local detailers around to wash down the boat on arrival (which is highly desirable, especially if you have been out in wet conditions and in salt water), washing the boat quickly becomes a chore that increases with the size and volume of the boat. more

The main limitation is the size of the vessel (the LOA) you can safely operate. Indeed, with just two people (who are not trained professionals) there will be limits, not only in terms of moving the boat, but also docking the boat. Luckily, new technologies make piloting and docking the boat much easier for owner-operators. more

Finally, you will also need at least some technical, meteorological and navigational knowledge to operate the boat safely, especially when cruising in unfamiliar places with variable weather and water conditions. Even if you checked the weather, there is always a chance you run into some unexpected storms and squalls. here

While the express yacht emphasizes a two-deck layout, the flybridge yacht (sometimes referred to as a sedan bridge or a sport bridge) is a yacht that includes an additional space above the main deck, often with seating and a control station. Due to the flybridge above, the main deck on these vessels often includes an enclosed space and living quarters below. more

Most boat owners are familiar with inboard propulsion. Straight shaft inboard propulsion is the traditional form of propulsion you’ll find in boating. It involves a rear-facing engine connected to a transmission and a driftshaft that comes out of the bottom of the boat. V-drive inboard yachts have forward facing motors, positioned further back, with a transmission that redirects the driveshaft toward the back of the vessel. With the engines further back in the V-drive systems, interior cabin space can be further maximized. here

For many, the joy of boating is the freedom to go where you want, when you want and with who you want – and for this reason, boats that limbo under the 24m LWL mark are always in demand.

It would take a very experienced owner-operator to run one of these, though, as the Y78 is a serious piece of machinery.
