One of our partners within our global network, Qatar Executive, is in the process of transforming their fleet to exclusively comprise of Gulfstream aircraft. One of the pioneers in business jet manufacturing, Gulfstream aircraft excel within the super midsize and global jet categories, both in terms of performance and aesthetics. In this article, we take a look at why the G650ER is widely considered the ‘best in class’ global jet and how it recently broke a World Record. more

The G650ER has won acclaim on two grounds – speed and range. It is regarded as both the fastest and longest-range business jet in the world, capable of reaching Mach 0.925 and sustaining a comfortable Mach 0.90. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725 A1-12 Turbofans, delivering 16,900 pounds of thrust. The aircraft is capable of flying 7500 nautical miles at up to 51,000 feet. This is the equivalent of flying from London to Singapore or New York to Tokyo. here

The G650ER’s aesthetics are equally as impressive as its technical performance. Featuring the distinguishable panoramic oval windows that are standard across the Gulfstream fleet, the cabin feels light and airy and offers stunning views. The cabin is configured into up to four separate living areas and can sleep up to 10. Whilst the finish evidently varies across individual aircraft, it is sleek, sophisticated – every seat is handcrafted and positioned next to a window. The cabin generates 100% fresh air and offers the lowest cabin altitude in the industry, ensuring you arrive alert and refreshed.

Although that first revolutionary flight occurred only just over 100 years ago, mankind has increased his technological and engineering excellence in leaps and bounds since then. The birth of flight revolutionized warfare, travel and scientific progress beyond measure, and helped create the global society we life in today. Every human being alive today who has travelled on a plane or marvelled at the wonders of space exploration should ultimately be thankful to those brave and brilliant brothers for the legacy they left mankind.

The North American X-15 was developed in the late 1950’s, as a joint effort between North American Aviation, who created the airframe, and Reaction motors, who developed the engines. It was a rocket-powered aircraft capable of hypersonic speeds in excess of Mach 6 (4,500 MPH). It broke the record for the fastest speed ever achieved by a manned, powered aircraft and also pushed the boundaries of altitude flying too. During its development there were thirteen flights, undertaken by eight different pilots that met the Air Force criteria for space flight by flying higher than 50 miles. Those eight pilots were awarded astronaut wings for their acheivements and the X-15 became the World’s first operational Spaceplane. United States Air Force test pilot, Major Michal Adams was killed in November 1967 when his X-51 went into a spin while descending, the plane broke up under enormous G-forces as it plummeted from the sky and wreckage was spread over a 50 square mile area. The X-51 was retired early the following year.

The F-15 was developed by McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, in 1967 to gain air supremacy in aerial combat. The twin-engine tactical fighter first entered service in the US Air Force in 1976, and has become one of their longest lasting fighters since that time. It has been widely exported to many other nations such as Saudi Arabia, Japan and Israel and production of the model is expected to continue until 2019, 47 years after it first flew. The F-15 Eagle is projected to be in use by the US Air Force until at least 2025, and considerably longer than that for some of its foreign buyers. The model has one of the best active service records of any modern fighter, with no losses in the combat theater and at least 100 victories in air-to-air combat, the majority of them claimed by the Israeli Air Force.

And Gulfstream is far away from done when it comes to getting fast jets faster. In May last year, they registered trademarks to the G1100 and G1200 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Industry speculation is that these are monikers to get a set of business jets.

The QueSST is expected to begin flying over specific U.S. cities in 2022. If the information gathered from the jet makes it possible for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish new noise-related regulations that make it possible for commercial supersonic planes to travel cross-country covering land, then it appears affordable and accessible supersonic flight is just coming up.

For Bombardier, the international 7000 operated faster than 650mph during the trial – the most prominent business jet to reach this velocity, ensuring its place as one of the fastest private aircraft worldwide. Joining the market in December 2018, this private leisure plane has the highest flight speed of 610mph, Mach 0.925, and an impressive range of 7,700 nautical miles. Its cabin of over 54ft lately got a Red Dot Design Award. The Global 8000 will have a broad range of miles and is expected to launch in 2019.

Two Rolls Royce engines power the Gulfstream G550 that provide more thrust than any other jet in its class. Its Mach 0.885 speed means quick, no-fuss, city-to-city flights — giving passengers the joy of flying from Washington to Dubai or London to Tokyo without a single time-wasting stop-over. And a spacious G550 is a comfortable ride, can accommodate a total of 19 and sleeping as many as eight people. Reaching heights of above 42,000 feet and with a reach of 6,750 nautical miles, the Gulfstream G550 achieves its position in our top 10eight jets that are fastest jets in the world. more

These roomy planes are agile enough to make the steep descents into and fast climbs from many airports which are off-limits to other big jets; whereas the 8X is around 35 percent more fuel-efficient than its rivals, as a result of wing design improvements and updated Pratt & Whitney Canada PW300 motors. Dassault procured a label for a 10X, which industry professionals assume might be a supersonic business jet in the production.

Hot on its heels, however, is the business’s X-59 QueSST, which is being developed at the cost of $247.5 million and is estimated to attract civilians closer to the supersonic journey than any other airplane.
