How to load a pontoon boat? If you have to load your pontoon boat in a windy situation, then try using the weather to your advantage. Try having your boat start upwind and parallel with your trailer. Use the wind to push you in line with your trailer.

A boat on a trailer is 2 to 2.5 feet taller than the “bridge clearance” listed on your manufacturer’s specifications. For example, a 22-25 feet boat will usually be above 10 feet tall on a trailer, with some exceptions.

The size of garages will vary no matter where you are in the country or world but in general, most boats will fit inside of a garage without too much difficulty. The only boats that will have issues fitting are pontoon, houseboats, or other boats that are designed to be taller or considerably larger.

Pontoon boats are built on top of two or three interconnected, buoyant tubes (or pontoons) upon which they rely for flotation. Those with three pontoons are sometimes called “tri-toons”. These pontoons make up the hull of the vessel which is then topped by a large, flat deck. Why do ships and pontoons float on water? more

What size pontoon trailer for a boat? Most center lift pontoon trailers will sit modern boats with 23” diameter or larger tubes on the ground. Boats with smaller (19” diameter) may need blocking, but blocking is a good idea with any pontoon. Height has become a problem for some modern pontoons, especially with 27” diameter pontoons..

As a general rule, you can pull a tube behind a pontoon as long as it has enough horsepower relative to the weight it is hauling. … Wakes generated from pontoon boats have less shape or depth than wakes created by ski boats, but the tube will still have the potential to “whip” at high speed. here

To safely store a bass boat, you’ll need a garage that is 2-4 feet wider than the boat’s trailer, 1-3 feet longer than the length of the boat with the trailer, a door that is at least 1.5 feet taller than the height of the bass boat on the trailer. [links]

For example, a 22-25 feet boat will usually be above 10 feet tall on a trailer, with some exceptions. Often times it’s above 10 feet going to 11′, and with radar or a hardtop, it can go up to 12 or 13 feet. A 30ft boat with radar could go up to 14 feet. [links]

Bass boats will not completely sink but may take on significant water if they strike something that punctures the hull, in very rough water, or in heavy rains. … Bass boats are among the safest boats you can use. [links]

What is a pontoon boat? A pontoon boat is a flattish boat that relies on floats to remain buoyant. These pontoons (also called tubes) contain a lot of reserve buoyancy.

As a rule of thumb, you should have at least a foot of clearance for safe movement and storage when you back the trailer and boat back into the garage. In terms of width (here are example pontoon widths), ideally, you need a couple of feet of clearance on either side of the pontoon and trailer to the door entry. more

That faster motor is also awesome for getting from one fishing spot to the next in bigger waters, which avoids wasting time traveling and allows for more time fishing!

As mentioned before, it’s more difficult for tritoons to get into tight spots. A trolling motor made for lakes may not have the power to pull a tritoon because they’re generally designed to move slowly and in shallow waters.

The minimum requirements for a motor are 250 horsepower and can go up to 350. This is because, with a bigger boat and more people being carried, you need a stronger motor to power the boat efficiently. more

Like I mentioned before, the size of the tritoon and the handling may be a challenge when pulling a skier or wakeboarder in tighter areas. If new to the “tritooning world,” I would definitely advise taking your boat out for a test run without the skier first, to make sure you can handle the steering. [links]

A tritoon is a vessel that—you guessed it—is supported by three tubes of air instead of two. On average, they’re 22 feet to 30 feet in length and are able to carry 14 to 25 people. more

Most states do not require a wide-load permit as long as the width does not exceed 102 inches; and, interestingly, some states – seven, to be exact – do not have laws regarding trailer breaks and weight. After it’s all said and done, however, once a boat trailer is purchased, it’s a matter of selecting the correct towing equipment, using common sense when loading and unloading, and never letting down your guard when it comes to safe trailering.

When trailering a boat, you must determine the towing capacity of your vehicle; and that information is available, via, your vehicle’s owner’s manual. Also, local and state trailering laws apply but can vary regarding special requirements that would include brakes, lighting, capacity ratings and other issues.

Keel rollers, also known as chine rollers, are often in the shape of a ‘V’ and are positioned along the center part of the trailer to support a boat’s keel. Extensions of keel rollers, referred to as ‘bow rollers’, offer support for the front area of a boat’s hull, up to the bow. [links]

Bunk trailers utilize two or more elongated boards, called bunks, whose job is to support the centerline of the boat’s hull. Unlike roller components that some boat trailers have, bunks distribute the boat’s weight more uniformly. Each side of the boat is braced by one bunk, with both bunks being covered in water-proof fabric that not only protects the boat’s exterior finish but makes movement of the boat, on and off the trailer, a somewhat effortless endeavor. For towing, bunk trailers are used, usually, for boats 20 feet, and under. Bunk trailers, however, can be used for larger boats for purposes of on-land storage. more

Rib rollers are smaller than keel rollers and are purposed to support the outer areas of a boat’s hull. Rib rollers can be designed with ribbing or texturing to maximize traction for the boat; or they can be designed with a smooth finish to optimize slick, effortless launching. A roller trailer is, often, preferred if a boat will be loaded and unloaded in shallow water.
