A rock with a hole through the center will act as a flywheel for cord drills and pump drills. here
As you can see from the video, the pump drill adds one last element, a board with a hole that attaches to the spindle and cord. This makes the cord drill even easier to use.

Sitting on top of most push and walk-behind mowers, is the blower housing and rewind assembly. The housing is round in shape and has slotted vent holes to allow air to enter the top of the engine and circulate around the flywheel. The housing holds the pulley, starter rope and rewind spring, all of which work together to form the pulling mechanism on the mower. The blower housing and rewind assembly is attached to the top of the mower engine typically with screws or bolts that must be removed with a screwdriver or adjustable wrench to access the internal parts.
The most visible, and most user-accessible, part of the pulling mechanism is the starter rope and handle. The handle is attached to the end of the starter rope by means of a simple knot tied on the end of the rope. The starter rope itself feeds through a hole in the blower housing and rewind assembly. Once inside the housing, the rope passes through a hole in the pulley and is secured in place by means of a knot. The starter rope is coiled onto the pulley under tension from the rewind spring. here
Behind the rope pulley is the rewind spring. Accessing the spring requires the removal of a screw in the middle of the pulley. The pulley is then pulled off and the rewind spring is found coiled in the spring housing on the back of the pulley. The spring itself is a length of narrow and thin metal that is coiled tightly and then inserted into the housing with the notched end of the coil inserted into a small gap in the housing. When inserted into the blower housing and rewind assembly, the spring engages a small tab on the inside of the housing. As the pulley is turned, the spring is wound tighter and tighter, providing the recoil necessary to keep the starter rope wound onto the pulley. here
Push, or walk-behind, mowers commonly feature a pulling mechanism that is designed to turn the crank shaft and start the lawn mower engine. Also known as a recoil start, the pulling mechanism consists of a few different parts that work together to allow a user to start the mower engine. Understanding how the mechanism works will help when it becomes necessary to make basic repairs, including those for a broken starter cord.

The throttle interlock prevents the throttle from accidentally being activated. The throttle interlock must be pressed before you can unlock and activate the throttle.
The air filter protects the engine from getting clogged with sawdust and dirt. A gas chainsaw requires a mixture of air and fuel to power the tool. This part filters the air so only clean air flows through the engine.
Note: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that chainsaws have certain parts to meet a set of safety standards. Those parts are listed first and identified by an asterisk (*). Also, any chainsaw placed into service after February 9, 1995, must meet the requirements of ANSI B175.1-1991 (Gasoline-Powered Chainsaws Safety Requirements).
The muffler is an essential part of a gas chainsaw that reduces the noise level. Without the muffler, a gas-powered chainsaw would be too loud to operate or stand near without damaging your hearing. here
