But can you pull a tube with a pontoon boat? The answer depends on a lot of factors, which I’m going to discuss in the following post.
But wait – before you go ahead pulling tubes with a pontoon, ensure that you’re following these precautions:
You might be satisfied knowing that you can go tubing with a pontoon boat and have a perfectly enjoyable time. However, I would advise you to pay close attention to the details, such as the towing capacity of your boat, its weight, size, etc., before doing anything.
Thanks to all for the info

I paint my tubes every 2-3 years. Plain Rustolium silver or comparable. Keeps them nice and fresh looking.
If the boat was used in salt water frequently, painting would be necessary. If so, check for corrosion everywhere. more
Hello
Looking buying our first pontoon. All seems good to go so far. Seller says the pontoons need to be repainted.
I thought in my readings that once the pontoons are painted they need to stay painted ? Is my recall right or off ?
If so how often on average do they need to be painted ? Yearly, 5 years etc.
And is that expensive to either do yourself or have done ?
The paint is purely cosmetic. Once painted, removing it would be a bear! The reason, that they were painted in the first place, is probably because the tubes were ugly. So we'd be painting once again anyways.
If you leave your boat in the water they need to be painted. If you launch it all the time and not in salt water they don't. Repainting properly is a 3 day job. Prep, prime with Epoxy primer, then paint with aluminum bottom paint. It is a DIY project but do it right if you want the toons to last. And don't forget the zinc plates especially if left in the water. more
Touch it up every spring and reapply every 4-5.
Since you are painting on bare aluminum, you cannot allow any paint containing copper to come in contact with the aluminum. My marina used Interlux Primocon barrier coat followed by Interlux Trilux 33 black.
This will be our 3rd season without issues, barnacles will attempt to attach, but die right away and can be wiped off. You'll still get a little bit of marine growth, which I wipe off every few weeks while we are swimming. more
I am in the Bohemia River, which isn't as salty as down your way but does during droughts.
Q. I have read several articles about prepping and painting aluminum, but the more I read the more I am confused. I recently purchased an older pontoon boat that was painted with automotive paint and the paint is chipping off. I would like to remove all the old paint by sandblasting then repainting it. Where I'm confused is after sandblasting the aluminum. Do I use a wash primer like alodine or cemfilm then a self etching primer, then an epoxy primer, finishing it off with automotive or marine paint? Or, can I use a self etching primer, epoxy primer, automotive or marine paint. What is the correct method or are there several different methods. Which method is better? I would like a simple, but durable method that will hold up to the elements. Do you have any Idea what prepping and painting methods pontoon manufactures use?
