considering the cost of oil pan replacement I would just add a dab of RTV sealant to the drain plug washer next time I had an oil change.
Most auto parts stores have a solution for this problem. Explain the situation to them, they will sell you a self-tapping drain plug that cuts new threads. This will replace your OEM drain plug. I have used them several times, they work if directions are followed. These drain plug replacements usually come in 1, 2, and 3 "oversize" sizes. Not difficult to install, not expensive. There are so many Chinese knockoffs of this it’s impossible to say without having access to the part. Most West Marine stores have at least one in stock so you could take that in with you to trial fit it.
