Modern helicopters have engines that are quieter and more efficient with advanced glass cockpits that offer fewer distractions for pilots. Airbus Helicopters’ Ed Sale responded to GQ at the Elite London event giving insight into what to consider when buying a private helicopter.
Training at Heli Air, one of the UK’s largest Robinson helicopter distributors, will cost you $10,500 (around £8,000). This covers theory in subjects like meteorology, air law, and flight planning. A Class 2 medical is compulsory. more
If planning to become a pilot, next choose a flying school. Lots of flying schools will issue Private Pilot Licenses PPLs(H). Ask friends with helicopters to recommend a good flying school.
The helicopter you are looking at here is a replica of the Mil Mi-24 GunShip helicopter. According to GizmoWatch it’s the largest RC helicopter in the world.
The real helicopter measures 56’9″ x 70’5 x 21’4″, has a fully armoured cockpit that’s protected by bulletproof glass and has a speed of 208mph with a 99 mile range. Check out the video after the jump. more

One time, just to freak out the friends who were flying with me, I had the pilot fake a crash into the ocean. (Cruel joke, but absolutely hilarious.) I would sometimes fly to the Staples Center for a Lakers game just for the heck of it. (Does anyone in their right mind want to drive a car to the stadium on game night?)
Ultralight helicopters are actual helicopters, despite what critics say. However they much more simply designed, and are a great deal lighter (in comparison to an R22 for example). Ultralights can have one or two seats, gas engine or turbine. And, the rotors diameters are much smaller. here
Since the ultralight helicopters began to come out pilots have been intrigued. In the pilot world the opinions of light aircraft vary greatly. Some really like them, others claim they are dangerous and difficult to fly. One thing both sides agree upon, is that they are cheap. here
The positives are that a pilot holding a private pilots license can own a ultralight helicopter $20,000! Critics of the ultralights bring up the point that it’s possible to buy a used Robinson R22 for $45,000, and is much safer and performs much better. here
