So, can you scuba dive while pregnant?

The good news is that pregnant women can do a lot of other things to help out the dive if they would really like to. Just because you are carrying a baby and unable to dive, doesn’t mean you should count yourself out completely. Here are some things you could do to help: [links]

Alongside this, a pregnant woman scuba diving is an incredibly strain to put on an unborn baby and the team that they are diving with. They have to take extra time to make sure everything is absolutely safe, and can’t promise the mother’s safety if an emergency situation happens.

There is also the matter of the decompression stress. This is the stress and strain you put on your body when gradually returning to the surface can be very dangerous. If you ascend out of the water too quickly, you do not give time for the nitrogen to properly leave your lungs. This can create gas bubbles, and general complications as changing from one pressure to another is a very big thing for your body to do. here

Though these tests can’t be carried out on humans, the conclusions of both of them should dictate to anyone that there is a possibility of danger when diving while pregnant. One can choose to ignore these tests, because they were done on animals, or because some of the tests showed slightly different conclusions. [links]

Hyperbaric Oxygen is oxygen that has been concentrated due to pressure. This pressure can obviously occur when you go deep underwater. In fact, divers commit themselves to the dangers of hyperbaric oxygen almost all the time. It’s what allows them to breathe freely underwater. more

There is one campground on each of the five islands. Reservations are required and cost $15 a night. Conditions are rustic—fires are not permitted, campers must take their trash with them off the island, and Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz Islands are the only two sites that have water. [links]

The park is open year-round, though facilities can close in severe winter weather. April to November is best for diving, with midsummer water temps ranging from 60 degrees at the surface down to about 40 degrees at 100 feet.

Also located in northwest Florida, the Morrison Springs State Park is well-known for its extensive underwater cave system with pristine, sandy-bottomed springs and three cavities that go as deep as 300 feet. [links]

The Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park, which was named after a local pioneer cave diver and underwater photographer, features one of the largest and longest underwater cave systems in the world. Covering 733 acres of land and water that is home to six large sinkholes and two major springs, it is the only park that is dedicated to cave diving. here
