There were no beeps like normally. I since had the battery tested and it's fine. I also tried the battery from the other ski and no luck.
For the life of me I cannot find the fuse box on my 97 xp. I was able to locate the 15 amp fuse in the engine bay on the left in the front where the spark plug wires lead into. more
The ski started fine after putting in a charged battery about a month ago. Since we moved to a new place. I put the boat in the water and tried to start it and nothing. My other ski (stand up) was charged at the same time and started right up.
I'm at a loss. I'm hoping it's just a fuse, but I can't find them. I looked under the glove compartment, in the engine bay and in the rear battery compartment to no avail. more
The new hull was narrowed at the front and made longer compared to its predecessor. For better handling the third generation XP already featured sponsons and the new electrical control system with a DESS key. more
As numerous XPs have been manufactured over the years you can still find many on the second-hand market. [links]
Just like its predecessor, the second generation Sea-Doo XP was designed on the SP hull. It was introduced in 1993, the year when Sea-Doo became the world’s no. 1 PWC brand!
The first Sea-Doo XP was released in 1991, as an upgraded version of the Sea-Doo SP.
Your Sea Doo has a fuse block on the MPEM in the very front nose of the boat, it also has a 15 amp fuse in the coil box up by the engine.[links]
Using a flashlight you can read what each fuse does as it is written on the MPEM next to the fuse holder. You have three active fuses on the MPEM. A 15 amp, 5 amp and a 7.5 amp fuse. You also have three spare fuses in the fuse holder row of fuses. In the coil box is a 15 amp fuse that is the main power fuse between the MPEM and the Battery, as power is routed from the battery to the coil box, then onto the MPEM.
What could this problem be? could the VTS motor at the back be blown?
Why did my engine smoke like that, was something shorting out? more
Fuse Order
7.5 amp
15amp
10amp (Keeps shorting out)
5amp
15amp more
Thx for that heads up.here
What is the MPEM?
Remove all three main AMP connectors from the face of the MPEM. Clean them with contact cleaner, dry them and plug them back into the MPEM.
Update like everything else buying a machine that does not run is a gamble. But it may be worth it if you buy the machine cheap enough, wnich I did. The problem was with the MPEM. To make a long story short I removed the epoxy potting material and replaced the diode which was shorted. It fired right up but I only ran it for a second in the garage. I will take it out once the weather improves to see how it does. [links]
Holy schmoly Robj. You dont know anything about sea doos but you bought a non running one? Without a sea trial. You sound almost as dumb as me. I hope you did a compression test at least. Start with a repair manual and go to the electronics section. Bad ground? more
In the rear of the bike there is a white box. The fuse should be in there. If not then in a sealed box under the front compartment ( memory foggy) I'de be willing to bet that there is a bad wire either in the box or towards the starter. Note: anytime you are dealing with the electrical sysyem on a bike be sure to free the hull of fuel fumes prior. Also check the start button.. more
two problem can cause this bad mpem in elec box or a grounded stator replace blown fuse after u have unpluged gray connector on eng then check to see if it blows as u put fuse in , if not plug in gray connector and see if that blows it , if it blows after being plugged in stator is grounded and must be replaced here
The answer of problem is here if the mentioned grey connector trick proved that MPM is faulty
