So I'm having an issue with the motor running. I prime the bulb, motor starts instantly like normal. In the beginning I can rev the engine up or let it idle for a while 10 minutes maybe more. Once it has used the fuel in the VST tank, it will die. When watching the internal fuel filter I don't see that surge of fuel that refills the bowl like I use too. I noticed that the primer bulb while just sitting, not running got soft. Here is what I have done so far:

So after checking the normal things thinking I'm sucking air since the primer bulb was losing stiffness I figured I would just bypass the external fuel/water separator. I grabbed a 1 gallon can and some gas. I put a section of hose from the primer bulb straight into the gas can, primed it, cranked it and the same results. Runs til it runs out of fuel in the VST. here

1. Checked all the fuel lines and replaced several hose clamps- nothing obvious .
2. Replaced the primer bulb- still gets soft while sitting
3. Checked for water in the 10micron fuel/separator-none
4. fixed red water tattle tail in the on board fuel/water separator. It was kinda pinned under the plastic base.

The number of times a livewell pump transfers water to and from the livewell is integral to keeping the bait and catch healthy.

That is why people make sure their boat is equipped with a livewell pump. Bigger boats usually have several pumps around the fishing rig to keep the onboard bait fresh for large parties and long expeditions. However, smaller boats only have one livewell pump, and that’s all they need.

Therefore, go for a pump that makes very little noise — noise-free operation is a distant dream for livewell pumps, but thankfully the best livewell aerator pumps emit next to no sound. more

This SHURFLO livewell pump has magnetic impellers that prevent clogs and motor damage. These impellers can drive a good volume of water and solid debris, and if they get stuck, the magnets kick in to safeguard the motor from burning out. This mechanism allows the motor to run even if the tank is dry for up to 24 hours.

I have a 1998 Triton Tr-17 that I just recently bought. It has both a recirculating pump and an aerator pump. Neither were working when I bought it, noticed the fuses were both blown, replaced them (confirmed 10amp needeD), and as soon as I flipped the switches, they both blew again.

I figured the most common issues is the pump motors seize up so I changed out both motors. The aerator pump now works and didn't blow its fuse, but the recirculating pump did blow its fuse again, after just being on a few seconds.

Thoughts on next most likely problem? Any guidance on how to diagnose and fix would be appreciated.

I must still be confused. Why would there be a plug in the drain?

It needs to be completely above the water line for it to drain all the of water out, and the top of the live well needs to be well above the water line or the whole boat will be a live well. It gets pumped in and drains out.

What do you use for the lid? The tank I'm getting won't come with a lid. I'm wondering if there's a good ready made hatch or something with hinges that I could use, especially if it closes water-tight with a latch. That would at least help prevent or slow swamping if something bad did happen. here

I hope this helps and if you have any questions I will try my best to explain them to you.
