Looks like a sold mount and kudos for not putting screw holes in the dash! Looks like you could go back to the stock setup without much trouble if you wanted to. Instaed of tape, consider a grommet for the wire. They usually stock those in the drawers in the hardware isles at the big box stores.

It would block the other gauges, and I prefered to do it this way. Electronics change over time, the mounts usually have different screw patterns. I've been on boats with swiss cheese dashboards before.
Its very solid and cost me about $5. Even if I ever mount to a dash again I'll use the cutting board material under the mount. 2 screw holes in the dash, change the elecronics. Your drilling a new pattern in a replaceable throw away piece of plastic instead of your dash board. here
I suppose the area in front of the cup holder wasnt flat enough to mount the unit? more

Update, went for my first run April 13th, worked perfectly. Swivels left and right and vertically to get the proper tilt. Reading back depth with the existing in hull transducer. Very happy with the setup. more
