Claridge’s Christmas Tree has long been a seasonal London landmark and symbolizes the start of the festive season in the capital, drawing visitors and Londoners alike to admire its delightful design. This year’s tree has been imagined by Christian Louboutin, a longtime guest of the Mayfair hotel. The tree stands in the center of the hotel lobby and is adorned with sparkling lights, red and gold baubles, shoe-shaped gingerbread biscuits and topped off with a glistening gold leaf crown adding the finishing touch. His creation is accompanied by The Loubi Express, a glittering red train positioned in the snowy forest clearing of the lobby. The Loubi Express is home to an intimate dining carriage complete with four tables, its own Cocktail Conductor offering champagne, cocktails and Claridge’s classic canapés complete with a nostalgic Christmas soundtrack. Tables will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, and The Loubi Express is open through December 31.

Celebrate Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year, in grand style at Gleneagles, Perthshire’s grand estate. A highlight of the year for many, the celebrations will include a sumptuous black-tie dinner, live music, bagpipes and drums. Spend the day enjoying the property’s signature pursuits such as a Trackman Combine Test at the Golf Academy, an outdoor treasure hunt, air rifle shooting, Scottish country dance lessons, champagne tasting and more. As midnight nears, guests are able to enjoy some celebratory fizz and a special “Beating of the Retreat” in the front hall before delighting in a true Scottish Hogmanay extravaganza at dinner, with a dress code of black tie or, of course, a touch of tartan. Live music will flood The Century Bar as guests are invited to dance the night away before they refuel at a 2AM late night feast in The Gleneagles Suite. Special packages are available for guests, which include a complimentary night’s stay.
With the Highlands of Scotland serving as the spiritual home of Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve), there is no better place to enjoy a traditional celebration than at Links House in the picturesque village of Dornoch - known more recently as the place Madonna christened her son, Rocco in Dornoch village and Elon Musk married his wife. While there will be no vikings from the early 8th & 9th century to celebrate the passing of the winter solstice, this luxury 15 bedroom boutique property (located next to the best beach in the UK by The Times) will however, be upholding the same Scottish traditions passed down through their exclusive three-night experience. Whether it is a visit to the Highland Shooting Centre, a Clynelish Whisky Tasting Masterclass, or the whisky paired 5-course dinners included each night, you are set to experience an unforgettable New Year's festivity. St. Barts, one of the most varied and upscale islands in the Caribbean, is famous for its glamorous attractions, guests and lavish New Year’s parties, this year will be no exception. A stunning firework display will take place in Gustavia harbor at midnight with a special musical performance on the docks. Local secret, the best place to see the light show is up above Cour Vendome or on the docks General de Gaull. From the deck of one of the many super yachts lining the harbor isn't a bad option either. For a truly luxe getaway, stay in the new Rockstar Villa at recently re-opened Eden Rock. The six bedroom villa costs $30,000 per night and includes a personal chef and butler, a gym, two dedicated spa cabins, hot tub and a private, 20-meter pool surrounded by three meter high walls for ultimate privacy. Since 1985, musicians from all over come to St. Barts in January to perform live music under the roasting Caribbean sun. Spend a dozen nights with the finest live music and dance performances from some of the world’s most prominent classical, opera, ballet, and jazz stars. These performers have the level of artistry that one would normally have to attend Carnegie Hall in New York or the Opera Garnier in Paris to experience.

Le Barthélemy Hotel and Spa is located in the tranquil enclave of Grand Cul de Sac on a half-moon shaped, postcard-perfect white sand beach. You can choose from a variety of rooms and suites (44 in total) each of which comes with a terrace, and, some, with private pools. I stayed in one of their Océan Lux Piscine Privée rooms which had the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space, with one additional feature I’ve never seen at another hotel — a nearly transparent screen that separates both areas adding privacy and also keeping mosquitoes outside. Additional bonus, the rooms come stocked with Hermès toiletries and fresh juice. [links]
If you’re traveling as a group or family, there are two new villas on-property that are a very short walk from the lobby and can accommodate up to 12 people. Each of the villas has two floors, a great room perfect for socializing and eating meals, a large infinity pool and direct private pool access. You can have a chef prepare a meal for you in the villa or walk over to the hotel to eat there. You’ll experience the best of both worlds — the secluded comforts of a private villa with the amenities of a hotel right at your fingertips.
Accommodation
The majority of U.S. travelers from the east coast fly into neighboring St. Maarten then take a short ten-minute shuttle flight from there to St. Barths. If you’re looking for a more luxe experience, opt to fly Tradewind through San Juan or USVI. You’ll enjoy spending time in a private lounge before you embark on your flight, where you can enjoy a variety of snacks and beverages. This private jet charter company operates a local fleet of Pilatus PC-12s (any aviation lover will be sold on that fact alone) which fly smoothly into the beachside Gustavia airport in St. Barths multiple times a day.
