Check your distributor and rotor if you haven’t already, it may just be dirty points. I would get a pressure test done too, you may have a head gasket issue. Also (on an unrelated subject) I don’t know how many miles are on that 2e but from my experience the timing chains would stretch to the point that they would need to be replaced every 100,000 miles.
