How this works: Crew, cleans, fishes, learns to sail (and sails), stands watches, helps with videography, and helps with general boat maintenance. I provide the boat, training, and I captain the boats.
Meet the captain: I worked for BP as an oil refinery operator in Texas City, Texas for 5 years. Think Homer Simpson’s job, but more lazy. Discovered a way to escape the rat race, bought my boat and have been sailing ever since. That was 7 years ago. Now I have over 20,000 miles of Caribbean island hopping experience, 6 Gulf of Mexico crossings, 2 trans-Atlantic crossings, trained over 50 people how to sail, and have become an expert Coconut Husker.
Most importantly, being a clean and tidy person is paramount in our small floating house. If you have unwashed dishes in your sink at this moment, you're probably not a good fit.

It’s always been hard to get a job on a cruise ship, but the global pause in cruising has made it so much harder as there are thousands of experienced cruise ship workers that are now out of work. here
Several cruise ship workers report that the ship is just as important as the cruise line, as each ship in a fleet may have a different culture. Some cruise ships might have amazing crew parties, others may be more relaxed.
Cruise ship workers do tend to work long hours and will generally work seven days a week with no days off. However, many workers talk about the camaraderie amongst the crew and how it helps to create a fun atmosphere.
Modify your resume based on the specific job requirements and job descriptions of the cruise ship. Having a tailored resume for the job will show their HR department that your application is just for them and not just for anybody else.
There are many ways by which you can send your job application. What matters is that you follow the instructions of the employer. If he wants you to give it personally, then do so. But if he wants you to submit your application online, then follow his instructions.
A galley cleaner is someone who cleans and maintains the neatness of the galley or kitchen of a ship. You don’t need to have any galley-cleaning experience to apply for this job. But certainly, you need to show your future employer that you have the necessary skills to do the job.
Check the job requirements that the cruise liners have posted on their websites or physical offices. Study their job descriptions and check which of those you can handle with your present skills and experience level.
This job is also an entry-level position, so there is no experience required to be a deckhand on a cruise ship. If hired, you might be asked to take on different jobs. You will be running errands for passengers, giving directions to different parts of the ship, general cleaning on deck areas, and keeping deckchairs and related equipment in good condition. You can earn from $1,200 to $2,000 per month if hired. more
Draw the connections between your past work and the work required on the ship, and you will get the job. But you need to articulate your transferable skills very well and connect them to the cruise job you are applying for.
