Has the engine been maintained? If so how many hours? Has the ethanol gas been treated on every fill up? here
Has the ethanol gas ever been mixed with non ethanol gas?-the operative word is "ever"

Has the engine been winterised? I don't know where you live so this may not be applicable.
Is your tank made of fiberglass?How old are the hoses?
How fresh is the gas? When was the last time you really filled up.
How fresh is the source of the gas? ( now adays you should fill up at "busy " gas stations only. )
