Hey guys, I have a late 90s 115 HP Yamaha Saltwater Series 2-Stroke that is having issues under load.

The motor starts up fine, idles real well, and can be reved in neutral as well.

The issues is that when it is put under load and I try to get past a certain mid-range rpm, the engine starts bogging out. The issue can be remedied by engaging the choke and it will get past that point. Besides that mid-rpm issue (where it feels like the engine isn't getting enough fuel), the engine runs great in all other RPM ranges.

Here is the problem: WOT RPMS 4900-5000. Top end speed is 31-32 empty (me only). When I have the motor trimmed all of the way up, I run the fastest. but it does porpoise (the boat comes up and down). Hole shot sucks. With it trimmed all of the way down, it is like the rear of the boat squats. which in not good on the bay (shallow water). The prop is stainless and in good shape. I don't blow out of the water when I turn at high speeds. more

Does anyone have any ideas? Do I have the right prop size? Should I get the motor checked? Should I raise the motor? Is something wrong with the motor?

I have a 2000 1880 Bay Stealth Classic with a 1999 Yamaha 115 2-stroke 4v Saltwater Series. The 4 blade prop is a Powertech 13" diameter with 15" pitch with cup(#ym90pfs4r15). Engine is mounted on second hole from the top. I don't know the distance.

THE NEW SALTWATER SERIES II PROPS (GEN. 2 WITH PART # ENDING IN 20-00) DO NOT USE THE PREVIOUS SPECIAL DOG-BONE SHAPED SPACER WASHER (6CE-45997-00-00 .) THEY REQUIRE THE STANDARD SPACER 688-45997-01-00 AND CAN USE THE STANDARD PROP NUT KIT 6G5-W4599-00-00 SINCE THE GEN. 1 HUB USED THE SAME FLAT WASHER, NUT, AND COTTER PIN. (GEN. 1 SDS PROPS ENDED IN 00-00 OR 10-00.) more
