I pumped out about 3 gal from my primary tank and thought I got all the water out, so I hooked the fuel line
back to the filter and squeezed the primer ball. Once the fuel went into the filter, thered ring floated up. [links]
I know I have water in my fuel tank, and have been trying to get it all out.
I got all the fuel out of the motor, and ran a couple gal of Non ethanol fuel thru it from an aux tank.
Poor the suspect fuel from filter into a container and carefuly put a match to it. I suspect you are looking water. which will mean no fire. more

i have found fuel stabilizer will breakdown some water, it basically breaks down the surface tension of the water which makes it easier to move through carbs etc. the trouble is the pickup is usually mounted center and you can get quite a bit of water into a tank that wont pickup until it is directly center/under the pickup. usually a boat doesnt sit exactly square on a trailer even on level ground.
dont rely on the engine filter alone to trap any water, it wont trap much and water has a hard time moving past your carb bowls, fit a water separating filter. good luck. hello
yes there is a small water trap. it has a clear plasitc bowl with a small red ring. if the ring floats it indicates water. try to trap the water with a good spin on filter and check/dump it every few hours until your sure no water is present. do not use additives. most are snake oil.
good luck and keep posting
Thanks for the reply. I just changed out the spin on style fuel filter (Quicksilver) for a Raycor that has a clear bowl on the bottom with a drain for removing water. Ran the boat for 30 min with no visible water in fuel. I’ll go back and look for the water trap.

Mac [links]

Based on what you are saying (that the fuel pressure decreases as the manifold pressure increases with the throttle being opened) it would seem that something is amiss with the pressure regulator.
I have never seen a regulator failure, doesn't mean it cant happen.
but I have seen the lift pump cannot keep the VST full. more
The ECU is expecting the pressure regulator to make the necessary adjustments in order to maintain a certain pressure differential. The ECU then considers manifold air pressure, engine RPM and throttle position angle openings and rates of change, to vary fuel delivery and timing for acceleration control.
Before ordering, please select the appropriate model from the list above and check for any price adjustments.
The cylinders have been rebored, the pistons, rings, wristpins, seals, and all bearings have been replaced, and the powerhead has been repainted. The Displacement of this powerhead measured in Cubic Inches is 106.2 (1.74L). more
There is no additional core charge. A core return label will be sent with the replacement powerhead, at which point the original powerhead can be returned for inspection. If the core passes inspection, a refund check of up to $125.00 will be issued to the buyer; otherwise, the core will be scrapped and not returned.
