I'm new to PWC and this forums but I have a general question to confirm what I think is the problem on my Waverunner.
This seem to be somekind of wear ring on the jet?
Ever since i've owned it I notice some slipping while taking off. This is my first PWC I thought that was normal. The problems seems to be getting worst. Now the engine will rev to it's limiter and the waverunner seem to be going no where. Also (excuse my choices of words since I don't know the right one) the squirter in the back only squirts water up to 4 to 5 feet at most. That is low compare to all the other Waverunners I've seen. sounds like an impeller . wear ring or debris issue
Unless you have these special tools and experience, it’s recommended to take your ski to your dealership or a reputable service shop to change the impeller on your jet ski!
Choosing a jet ski impeller is not rocket science, but it definitely needs some expertise. As a rule of thumb, you need a new impeller with a higher pitch angle if you ride in cold weather regularly, want to reach higher top speeds, or the RPM is simply too high. You may want a new impeller with lower pitch numbers if you ride in the mountains regularly (high altitude), your ski’s stock engine is low powered, or you ride regularly with a lot of extra weight. here
If stones or other debris don’t cause damage to it, jet ski impellers can last for many years. But it’s good to know that if you ride regularly in muddy or sandy water, this results in significantly more wear on the impeller. Because of this, every manufacturer recommends inspecting the pump and the impeller every year or 100 hours, whichever comes first. here
The jet ski impeller is the key part of the propulsion system, but despite its importance, it’s often overlooked. Many owners don’t even see it until something goes wrong!
Are you wondering what the point of this is? As we’ve mentioned, in the case of a straight pitch impeller, the smaller numbers mean lower top speed and better acceleration, while the larger numbers mean the highest top speed, but you can expect decreased acceleration. So it seems we have to make compromises.
If you want to learn more about jet ski impellers, don’t hesitate to read more. We, at JetDrift, have gathered the most important information about this key part under one roof!
Flush the gas tank, put new fuel into it, and add some water dispersent additive to the gas. Clean or replace the on and res channels of the fuel switch valve.
Any small void in the seal between the pump and the ring it bolts up to will cause massive cavatation. When you have a pump out, allways look at the three back impellor blades ( trailing blades near vanes in pump ) as they tend to bend forward when a rock goes through the pump.here
My 1996 Seadoo Speeadster wont go over 10 mph feels like clutch is slipping, it revs so fest to 8000 rpm but just wont move.
I have taken both jet pumps off to check for wear or damage but everething looks good except neoprene seals are broken not complete.
Wear rings look like new scratch or two at each pump looks like previous owner replaced them.
Props looks good just couple small dings on edges.
Carbon seals look good. here

Could the neoprene seals cause the boat not to go faster.
Thanks,,
What are some surefire signs that there is something wrong with the steering on your Waverunner? For starters, if you are riding and it feels like you have to turn with more force to get the jet ski to go where you want, there is a problem somewhere in the steering even though it will turn with enough force. If it won't turn in one direction yet turns in the other direction, you have a problem. Finally, if you can't turn it to either side no matter how hard you try, it is time to accept you have a steering issue and fix it before hitting the water.
When looking at simple steering issues for Waverunners, it is always a good idea to consider the issue. For instance, if you find your handlebars don't offer free movement because it feels like something is tugging on them, you need to look at the nozzle binding area. There could be something simple such as a bent washer causing a lack of turning space in this area which is why it is catching. You should also check the nozzle binding to make sure the issue isn't that the actual binding is damaged. more
A bad steering cable is usually pretty obvious to feel for on a jet ski. When trying to turn one direction, you will feel the steering cable push or pull, but the other direction will not have the same feel of the cable moving in a push or pull motion. Steering cables on a jet ski are pushed one way to turn left and then pulled the opposite way to turn right. If you don't feel the same pull or push in both directions, or if you feel no tension at all when moving the handlebars, then it is the steering cable. This can be remedied by installing a new steering cable using the owner's manual. [links]
