RPM Information: 5000-5600
Your engine's RPM range is important in choosing the right propeller for a given application. For example, if you look at your tachometer at top speed and it is not within the engine's RPM range then that is generally not good. You want your RPM's to be within the proper range while at wide open throttle (WOT). Be sure to do your testing under your normal boating conditions and with a good propeller (not bent, cracked, or excessively chipped). more

it should be at the top of the cylider head, above the spark plug, but if its peeing, its NOT the thermostat.

Well when I run it a WOT the overheat light comes on and if I kill it once its been running it takes almost an hour for it to cool down and start again I figured it was a cooling problem and to check the thermostats here

Back again, motor has been doing great, then the dirty carb bug got me. I cleaned to carbs out today and rebuilt them. took forever to get it started right after I put them back on, now it's running good. Question is, where should my RPM's be at dead idle? What setting in neutral and where should they be at "in gear" idle?

Thanks. someone was trying to tell me 800 +/- 100 RPM but that seemed a little high.
