Keeping track with trends in the automotive industry, the team at Yamaha has created a new touch screen helm control system that they call Connext. Based off of a 7” display, Connext is truly intuitive and easy to use. During our test drive it was easy to switch between the radio, engine functions and set up menus. What we liked most about this system was how common sense the visuals are and the fact that you can change screens and control functions with either the joystick mouse, the function buttons or with the touch screen.

The big plus of a jet-powered sportboat is that operation in extreme shallows can be worry-free, even when there are unmarked sandbars, rocks and stumps; the drive system is virtually flush with the bottom of the boat.
The height of the boat and trailer is 10’11” (3.33 m). With the tower folded down, the height of the boat and trailer is 10’ (3.05 m). The length of the trailer is 25’ (7.62 m). With the tongue folded the length is 23’9” (7.24 m). The dry weight of the boat and trailer is 5,382-lbs. (2,441 kg).

Up towards the bow, the seating area is enticingly creative. It can be configured and reconfigured in a multitude of ways depending on the amount and goals of the guests on board. Start with classic bench seats, or remove the forward-most cushions and create two jump-seats, or close up the entranceway and create a three seat bench, or bridge cushions across the aisle to create a chaise-like sun bed. This 24’ stylish sailer has seating for up to 12 people to fit comfortably in a variety of seating positions and areas. Nicely appointed seats with two-toned stitching and custom color schemes surround guests in the lap of luxury. The self-draining cockpit holds up to six of those guests in a U-shaped formation to make socializing just a little more simplified. Up front the captain’s chair has a flip up bolster, and has adjustable height to maximize sight lines and viewing angles. The companion’s chair is nearly identical to the captain’s chair, except that it can rotate 360-degrees to allow for supervising, and/or mocking anyone that may be tubing or skiing behind. It isn’t every day that Yamaha unveils a new flagship model, but today is that day. The 242 Limited S E-Series is a wonderful mix of solid performance, useful functionality and posh style.
