1975 5.5 HP Sears , Ted Williams model Outboard Motor In new condition This motor was purchased in 1975, used three times in 1975 and has been stored in the garage ever since. This motor is a 2 cycle model , A lot better than the newer 4 cycle models It has a 2 3/4 qt. fuel tank . [links]

Not pretty but it runs pretty good. It has a built in tank and will run a remote tank also. It has a clutch for neutral and just turn it around for reverse. Simple design that will last for years. .

Early 70's model Ted Williams 7.5hp air cooled motor, it's got good spark and strong compression. Fuel mix is 24:1 5.3 ounces per gallon. Any quality 2 stroke oil, use TCW3 rated outboard oil. Gearcase uses any SAE 90 outboard gear lube. https://forums.iboats.com/Outboards/Ted-Willia . [links]
That engine didn't last me 1 year, which meant I bought her in April, she broke before summer, had her repaired and back on the water, by the time early next spring she'd been back for a 2nd repair and now had what I called a catastrophic failure (meaning 3rd times a charm) I brought the motor, still under warranty back to sears, dropped her on the counter, handed them my receipt and got my full refund, in CASH! I was back to square one with $248 back in my pocket. I went to the nearest Johnson dealer (The only dealer In town) and handed over that $248 plus another $200 of my dads money (which I had to pay back) and went home with a used 15 Johnson that lasted years before I wanted a car.

So question is, why are some of these air cooled engines still running today and others like mine pretty much fell apart? Was the break in that important, was it luck of the draw?

Have a ted Williams outboard. Don't know a lot about it has been in the shed for 10 years. I cleaned the carb new plug pulled it 3 times and it started. Seem to run OK and kicks into gear. You can see it run. Leave message on phone thanks [links]

Vintage Firestone 7.5 horsepower outboard motor. It's my understanding these motors were manufactured by Scott - Atwater in the 1950's. Motor has great compression but no spark on one cylinder, likely needs points cleaned/adjusted. Nice complete condition for it's age. Be very nice restoration proje .
