BC29-300x170Practical Elegance. From Maine. Back Cove Yachts, founded in 2003, is a sister company of Sabre Yachts. A group of Sabre dealers requested a smaller Downeast style cruising boat to suit the needs of owners who admired the look and feel of the Maine lobster boat and the dependability and fuel efficiency of a single diesel engine. The Back Cove 29 was launched soon after, and so was a new brand. Today, the two yards are the largest recreational boatbuilding company in the State of Maine where America’s first ships were built on the shores of the Kennebec River as early as 1607.

In several areas west of Ingraham Street, the Permit Center for Park & Recreation Department/Developed Regional Parks Division maintains small beach areas where boats may be left overnight. These are known as beach bars because permitted boats must be fastened to a long bar in the sand. Most beach bars are limited to vessels fourteen (14) feet or less in length and eight (8) feet wide. On others, maximum vessel length is seventeen (17) feet. [links]

Owners of boats up to twenty-five (25) feet in length may apply for permits to use mooring locations in three areas of Mission Bay -- San Juan Cove, Santa Barbara Cove, and Mariners Basin. The number of mooring spaces is limited. The permit to use an in-water mooring space is non-transferrable, but the physical buoy and tackle are the property of the permit holder. more

All of Back Cove’s yachts are quiet and comfortable in their cruising design. As far as power, you get plenty of it. With a 315 horsepower, 6 cylinder diesel engine, you can cruise at 20 knots, with a top-out at 25. All of Back Cove’s styles and designs are easy to maneuver with their standard bow thrusters; or if needed, you have the option of a stern thruster as well.
