For something a little different, give the Kailua Kona manta ray night dive a try. These are dive sites that few people forget. There are a number of tour groups you can head out with, so you may want to do some research ahead of time. That said, almost all of them seem to be top notch and offer similar experiences that are well worth the time.

Sport Diver Magazine actually named this as the best dive sites in the world. That’s thanks to two major features here. One, it’s incredibly easy to get here. It’s in West Palm Beach and you’re basically a stone’s throw from town. But it’s also incredibly rich with wildlife. It’s like immersing yourself in an underwater zoo. If you are looking for quality shore dives, start here. more

If you like wreck diving, the Corveta Ipiranga can be found at about 60 meters deep. An oasis for fish now, the wreck is still riddled with artifacts. It’s well preserved and makes a great addition to any dive in the area.

The Gilis in Indonesia have become massively popular in recent years — and for good reason! The reefs and waters here provide a gorgeous backdrop to your dives. The islands are surrounded by a huge reef system that is better preserved than others in the area. And with the island being much cheaper than its neighbor, Bali, there is even more reason to come here and explore. more

This place may not be well known by travelers, but it’s a world famous dive destination and the best diving site in Brazil. In recent years Fernando de Noronha has definitely grown in popularity, which isn’t surprising. Here you will find lots of life among the blue waters that circle these islands. You’ll be able to swim with turtles, dolphins, and much more. There is even one of the best wreck sites in the world, the Corveta V 17. Not only is this one of the best dive sites in South America, it’s one of my favorites in the world. Plus, the islands are only allowed to host a limited number of visitors so you won’t be sharing this paradise with lots of other people! [links]

9. Never be afraid to ask your guide or instructor questions, no matter how silly they might seem. Remember, everyone started as a beginner once, and it’s better to dive with confidence instead of confusion.
