Expert’s take: As good as any Stiles course out there, just half the size. The property is dramatic but should never have yielded 9 such good golf holes. Pretty genius bit of routing, straddling a central ridge feature. more

Expert’s take: Eagle Springs is the oldest course in the state of Wisconsin, and it might also be the quirkiest. Owned by Mike Bolan, a fifth-generation descendent of 19th-century course founders John and Mary Tuohy, Eagle Springs was originally built as an 18-hole layout, but shrunk to only nine holes after the Great Depression. While nine of the original holes are gone, the entertainment is not. here

Expert’s take: A true charmer with a no-nonsense clubhouse, a no-fuss attitude, and breathtaking views of the Vineyard Sound. A clever routing and creative use of multiple tee boxes that allows one to go around twice, but enjoy two distinctive nine-hole experiences. Don’t stray too far from the manicured fairways and greens as the fescue can be brutal.

Expert’s take: This quirky and intimate gem, rife with big and small holes, is golf’s version of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. A great place to play a match, take the kids, or squeeze in a sneaky nine. here

It’s pretty amazing, but straight-up fact that folks have been playing golf in our area for 125 years. In 1891, some homesick Scotsman started the work of present-day Gearhart Golf Links. If those 18 holes aren’t enough (and we know it won’t be), there’s also nine holes at the Seaside Golf Course or nine holes at The Highlands – also in Gearhart – that can offer up windy challenges or climate-perfect weather for any golfer.

The 125 year old Gearhart Golf Links have been newly restored to its true links identity by removing select trees and expanding the view corridors. The putting greens are firm and fast, and the now open sightlines to the surrounding mountains are spectacular. In 1891, b.

The 125 year old Gearhart Golf Links have been newly restored to its true links identity by removing select trees and expanding the view corridors. The putting greens are firm and fast, and the now open sightlines to the surrounding mountains are spectacular. In 1891, before any formal golf course existed west of the Mississippi River, a clatch of homesick Scotsmen confounded the locals by burying tin cans into the dunes and then knocking balls with sticks until they dropped into the cans. For these Scots, the landscape at Gearhart was strongly reminiscent of the native, ancient courses of St. Andrews and Montrose. Gearhart Golf Links is a public course with 18 holes of spectacular, links-style golf located in the town of Gearhart on the Beautiful North Oregon Coast. Offering Annual Memberships, and welcome all golfers, of all skill levels, to enjoy a casual game or tournament play for a golf outing experience. here
