Join the Power & Motoryacht staff in the best seat in the house as we celebrate the influence and inspiration of the World’s 100 Largest Yachts. This year’s list adds nine new builds and 2,903 feet in length to its immeasurable capacity to inspire seagoing dreams. But it’s not the celebrities that grace (or disgrace) their decks, nor the illustrious ports of call they frequent (though they are terrific spots) that catch our eye. Instead it’s the incredible engineering and inventive design that make superyachts worth watching, and send our eyes searching for the nearest chart. So as the magazine’s 30th anniversary celebration continues, take a voyage through this year’s list and enjoy a closer look at how the genre has evolved over the past three decades.

The largest of them was 50 feet long, so if you lined up six of them, they’d be about the same size as Spielberg’s boat, Seven Seas (number 66).

Al Said is a luxury yacht owned by the Sultan Qaboos of Oman. The yacht was ordered to be made in 2006, by Lürssen.[1] The ship was code named Project Sunflower during its construction. It is currently the world’s highest displacement super-yacht (15,850 tons) [links]

This 239-foot long superyacht was designed by Omega Architects. Yalla's accommodation for 12 guests is spacious and well-equipped, and includes a large Owner's suite on her main deck, two double guest staterooms and two twin guest cabins (each with pullman bed).
As was noted earlier this month, the French Riviera is the place to scratch your superyacht itch in September. But the true megayachts (those well over 200-feet-long), don’t really come out to play or to be seen by potential buyers until the Monaco Yacht Show later in the month. And since Monaco is home to the largest number of millionaires and billionaires per capita in the world, it’s only fitting that some of the world’s largest yachts come to show off in the world’s second smallest country that’s synomous with luxury. So here’s only a taste of the over 500 yachts and countless toys (everything from personal submarines to fully enclosed "limousine tenders” that allow yacht owners to go ashore without getting a hair out of place) that will be on display from September 23-26.

The 278-foot-long Solandge that was built by the Lurssen shipyard and launched in 2013 is the largest yacht that will be at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. This striking yacht with the exterior designed by Espen Oeino and the interior designed by Aileen Rodriguez, offers true luxury on six extraordinary decks and is intended to be a home-away-from-home on the high seas.
It provides luxurious accommodations for 14 guests and additional accommodations for 19 crew. Top speed is 17 knots and range is approximately 5,500 nautical miles.
The 252-foot-long Silver Fast is also designed by Espen Oeino and retains the super-sleek style and unique hull lines of her much-prized predecessors but with a striking new all dark silver paint. more
