A friend has recently (in unseemly haste, I fear) bought a 40ft Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge (built in 2002) - which, as I understand it, are the models that suffered serious problems of rot in their balsa core bottom. He got it extremely cheaply: $60k, when very similar boats retail in my area for at least $300k.
Tellingly, he bought it while it was on a hardstand and was told that it had "hit a rock" and was sunk for a couple of days - but that there was no lasting damage to important components like engines, etc. The owner nonetheless confessed that he had been quoted "more than $150k" to bring everything up to scratch. My friend is prepared to spend this money - but my concern is what he'll end up with after investing the $60k + $150k. I don't want to rain on his parade and have so far kept quiet about the rumors I've heard about these boats - until i can at least get a bit more info.

If not, I seem to recall that some of the sea ray model boats (Not all) where setting up their ignition power system a little bit different then the standard way of doing it, so yours may be a bit more difficult to walk you through it then usual to where, if you can't seem to find anything obvious, you may need to seek advice from a "sea ray" technician that knows the ignition system well.

Years ago I installed AC and electronics for several dealerships and not once did I have a unit that needed to be primed by running the boat.. That sounds like total BS to me. [links]
