Not that this matters, but both boats are made by Brunswick. here

Neither are great for fishing. Many fishing boats in this price range are aluminum instead of fiberglass. If it must be glas, also take a look at Seaswirl. Not as fancy as Sea Ray (more like Bayliner) but they are made in Oregon so a dealer in your area may be able to make a good price. And Seaswirl has many fishing types. Here are some more threads that may help -

sea ray 176 vs bayliner 175

Fiberglass fishing versus aluminum fishing

Kelly Cook here

Before you buy, take a look at Glastron MX 175. They have a sweet 100% composite Volvo I/O boat that is perfect for cruising, fishing, etc. You have to check this boat out. My buddy has one and although it is not as decorative as their competition, it is a much better design for the same money. Key advantages:

No wood
Volvo
Simple easy cleanup design
No carpet
rear bench seat
thicker hull
awsome warranty here

After a relative short time, the inlet ahead of you is also pushing water into the ICW and that current is against you.

On a good day you can go anywhere you want to, however, you have to look at the overall situation and be equipped for the hazards that are common in the area that you boat in. here

Well Laura, trading in a 43 ft sailboat for a 36 foot Gibson Houseboat is quite the change. Houseboats were designed for lakes and rivers, so as with all boating, the weather and water conditions have to be evaluated daily before doing any open water traveling.

However a Gibson houseboat with twin engines, properly equipped, and in good running condition, has no problems in normal "open water" conditions. You don't want to venture out past the limit of seeing the shoreline on the horizon. [links]

When making jumps in unprotected and open water I would never do it in a boat with one engine, twin engines are a must, for that matter I would have twin engines if you are cruising any kind of distances in strange unknown places where you can't call your friends for a help. more

I agree with you Old Houseboater, and have always preached that the ICW is doable, but only with the proper houseboats, who are experienced, planned, and prepared to wait for good weather windows. [links]

Is it considered unwise to put hard tops on smaller boats such as a 203FS key west or 211 Sea Hunt Ultra due to stability? Both are narrower beam boats (8’0”, 8’3”) and I seem to find many more Bimini or fabric tops than hard tops. What are the pros/cons? The center of gravity has to raise up a bit, but perhaps it’s negligible. The convenience factor seems huge. We have no canals or bridge considerations. more

We plan to Spend a good amount of time fishing the boat and it will be stored in a wet slip at marina. Location is Dunedin, FL; we plan to fish ICW and islands such as Caladesi. We would like to still be able to go fishing on a breezy day, but never expect to boat if a small craft advisory is out. more
