These two islands sit about 100 miles apart in the turquoise Caribbean sea, and are close enough to combine in one trip, but different enough to enjoy some vacation variety. Barbados boasts not only postcard perfect beaches but a UNESCO heritage capital, glittery nightlife, and well developed infrastructure. Laidback St. Lucia is an eco-tourists paradise, offering excellent hiking and golden beaches against lush green valleys. Traveling between these top vacation destinations is not hard, and for a trip to the Caribbean, island hopping is all part of the fun.

There are several flights that travel between the two islands daily, and the journey takes no more than 45 minutes. LIAT and Caribbean Airlines are the two primary providers with the former known for its frequent delays. They both have easy to use online booking systems, and return flights run between $200-300 USD. St. Lucia has two airports but most inter-Caribbean flights fly into the George F.L. Charles Airport at the north end of the island. International flights land in the larger Hewanorra International at the southern end and Barbados has only one airport, the Grantley Adams International Airport. more

Sadly, the ferry service between the two islands was discontinued in 2016. For the time being, the only way to travel by boat between islands is to do a guided cruise or to charter a boat, which can be pricey. Binti Charters, based in Marigot Bay in St. Lucia, offers catamarans that can be rented. For other options, pop in to the yacht clubs on either island to inquire about boats.

Puerto Rico
There is a ferry service between Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands and also between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. There is also a ferry service between San Juan to Vieques Island. Another ferry operates between Ponce and Isla Caja de Muertos. here

I know Liat do flights that comes in at around $500 for two people. Though, there'd be a 4 hour wait for the flight. Are there any other options?

I agree $500 is a bit steep for a flight between the Islands!! I think the last time I paid around $450 for 4 people, but it was on a special price!! [links]

If you arrive at BGI at 14:50 the next flight to SLU is at 18:50. By the time you get through customs and collect bags etc you will have around 3hrs to kill!!

My advice would be to go across to Frankies Bar, its just across the road from the airport and have a few bottles of "Banks"!! and have a friendly chat with the locals!!
