I’m pretty sure the hose size that I bought is 3/4″ OD (outside diameter) and the ID (inside diameter) is 5/8″. Either way, the hose clamps snugs it up securely and it’s in the livewell underwater so I’m not worried about leaking. That hose runs from the bilge pump to the first 45 pvc. I got 1/2″ threaded elbows, and the gray pvc is actually a 12″ riser which is used for sprinkler systems. I would have used regular pvc, but this was only .99 cents and I wouldn’t have to buy a full stick of 10′ since they won’t sell in pieces.

I started at a 12v power source. I plugged a few different adapters into it so that I could make sure that no matter where I installed it, everything with a 12v power adapter could plug into it. So, right in front of the rear bench, next to the sidewall is where it was placed. It also made running wires to the battery easy because I could just run them down the sidewall channel. more

1- 18" piece of 1/2" PVC pipe
1- 1/2" PVC cap and 1 elbow
1- Pack of industrial velcro
1- 12 Volt car adapter or clips
1- 6 foot extension cord or longer more

The pump can be left in the bottom of the cooler but I decided to velcro it in the bottom of the cooler so it would not move around. Now I added a 6 foot extension to the pump and then wired the 12 volt cigarette lighter plug-in, but you could just add batterie clips.

Draw a line on the pipe and drill 1/8" holes about 1" apart, 12 holes so you get sufficient aeration and pressure in the pipe, this will inject tons of tiny bubbles into the live well. More is better. Install the end cap and the elbow, no need to cement these in place. If the pipe gets cloged you can take the cap off to clean it. Add velcro to the pipe to secure it to the back of the cooler. [links]

If you’re looking at a new fishing boat, you should know what to look for in a livewell. Livewells are more important to some anglers than others, and they’re also more or less important to different boat-builders. Where the boats are built and what types of anglers they cater to makes a big difference in just how much emphasis a builder puts into designing and building a livewell. SeaVee boats, based in Miami, Florida, builds a number of models which are used for techniques like kite fishing, slow-trolling live bait, and live bait chumming. In all of these cases, having top-notch livewells is imperative. Join us for a look at the livewells in a new SeaVee 390Z Center Console, and we’ll find out what makes them great.

So, was there any imperfection in the SeaVee’s livewell design? The only thing we might change is coloring the interior baby-blue. Studies done in conjunction with Mote Marine Laboratory have shown that the a blue interior does help keep baitfish calmer, since it’s more natural to their eyes. We note, however, that SeaVee builds to order—if you want a colored livewell interior, it’s not going to be a problem. And some anglers may want more capacity, even though the transom well holds a whopping 65 gallons and the bowdeck well holds 70 gallons. This is another thing SeaVee can accommodate; there’s a third livewell with an amazing 140-gallon capacity available in the cockpit sole. here
