The most important consideration when looking at engines is horsepower. This will determine how efficient your boat is and whether it can handle regular activity on the water. Keep in mind that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better when it comes to motors. You’ll need to think about the size of your boat.

If your vessel can’t handle the biggest and strongest engine out there, you can damage the frame and transom. On the other hand, if you get a model that isn’t big enough, it may be impossible to get anywhere in a decent amount of time!

Outboard motors can be powered in a few different ways. Traditional models use gasoline. This is readily available and fairly simple. Modern crafts tend to be electric powered, using a battery. These models are more environmentally friendly and quieter. Lastly, there are propane-fueled models which offer lower emissions than gas models and less mechanical issues in general. here

A lot of boaters ask the question: do I need two outboard motors instead of one? In short, if they are providing the same amount of horsepower, there’s not really a difference. However, there are some reasons to get a second outboard. Some people like to have a backup in the case that one motor dies. This will give you a sense of security that you won’t get stranded on the water. A con to two engines is the additional cost. If money is not an issue, you can consider getting two outboard motors, but it’s not necessary. [links]
