The MONTAUK 17 is the boat that started the center console revolution. Its unsinkable, stable hull makes makes this the go to Classic for safe boating. This is one of the most durable and versatile boats made. This Boston Whaler Montauk 17 is a carefully refurbished, low hour, well maintained boat we have owned for 23 years, as the second owner. This boat has very few hours and spent most of it's life in storage in our climate controlled building. Since it was only used a few hours per year, it was in a perpetual state of maintenance with very lite seasonal use keeping everything exercised. The boat and motor have been one of the best pieces of equipment we have owned. The Boston Whaler quality, and the dependable and smooth Yamaha, are a delight to own and operate. The boat is powered by a Yamaha 90 ETF 90 Horse Power Outboard with: Oil Injection, Electronic Choke, and, Power Trim & Tilt. This motor always starts immediately and runs very smoothly. With the exception of one of the coils needing to be replaced a few years ago, we have never had a problem with the boat or motor in the years we have owned it. Maintenance is part of the reason for this but we are beginning with high quality products in Whaler and Yamaha. The boat features a recently installed, genuine Boston Whaler stainless steel Bimini Sun Top, with Wm. J. Mills & Co. Canvas Top and Boot. This top is super easy to operate. The Sunbrella canvas material is UV resistant and it stays bright blue. The top stows out of the way in seconds. We installed a Impulse 2800 Plus, LORAN & Fishfinder with a Shakespeare Antenna with rail mount, a UNIDEN LTD Marine Radio with a RailFast Antenna and rail mount, a FISH-ON Trolling plate, although we never trolled with the boat more than a few hours, and a OPTIMA Dual Terminal Gel Cell BLUE TOP Marine Battery with 800CCA/980CA, a 1.5 Amp Fully Automatic Onboard Battery Charger / Maintainer, and a attwood Automatic Bilge Pump, in the rear sump well. Includes 2 Fuel Tanks, removable, secured. Included are 2 Downriggers and quick attach / detach hardware for mounting. Also included is a Custom Mooring Cover and a 1988 EZ Loader float on style bunk trailer. The bearings and electrical on the trailer have been maintained annually. The trailer is in need of a paint touch up or repaint. We purchased this Whaler in 1993 and have all of the original: build sheet packing list, paperwork, books, and, manuals, and original bill of sale. The boat has been in fresh water only, and when not in use, stored in a climate controlled building its entire life, with annual factory maintenance procedures, and proper summerizing and winterizing procedures each season. The outdrive oil was always changed each season. The boat has had one summer in the water since a total refurbishing where all of the teak was removed from the boat, completely stripped, cleaned, and refinished with 3 coats of Z Spar S120 Clear Wood Sealer. Care was taken to ensure the teak was properly reinstalled. At this same time the entire front Cushioned Cooler Seat cushion and upholstery was replaced with an ultra UV resistant marine set, the cooler seat drain, hinges, and latch assembly were replaced, and the Padded Leaning Post Seat entire frame, cushion and upholstery was replaced with an ultra UV resistant marine set. At this same time the dual under seat metal gas tank fitting gaskets and filters were replaced, the under seat fuel tank holder mats and tank tie downs were replaced, the entire fuel line assembly was replaced from the tanks to the motor, including new factory fitting, primer bulb, hose, clamps, etc. The spark plugs were replaced, the motor fuel filter was replaced, the entire fibreglass surface was cleaned with Colinite Boat Cleaner and two coats of Colinite Boat Wax was applied. At this same time the bottom of the boat was painted with Interlux Fiberglass BottomKote. As is done annually, the gear oil was replaced and full annual maintenance as specific by Boston Whaler and Yamaha, was completed.
