Is there merit to the idea that the modified gas cap should be plastic not aluminum? On ebay the idea is touted that a modified Honda cap is better, although it seems to me the idea of the cap now is not to vent but to be airtight.
Now that power is back and everything put away (for us--the town is still 30% out, and the next town over is still 78% out) I'm thinking more about the suggestion to use a marine tank with the cap mod. Perhaps someone could help me understand it better.

I got a used generator with a bad ( leaking ) fuel tank, my thoughts were if I could use my marine fuel tank to supply fuel to the genny ?? My only concern is that the old tank was gravity fed, the marine tanks seem to work off of the pump ball ( the plus is the marine tank is 12 gals ) ??

For safety reasons place generator and fuel tank on level ground when using and make sure fuel tank and hose are not near any heat source or open flame. here
