Then problem that I have ran into is finding a top mounted or left side mounted throttle control that fits to the Mercury 50.
Thanks for thebquick replies.
I have found a wiring diagram and think I can make that work. here
Get yourself a wiring diagram (in any service manual) and you can build an adapter harness to make just about any control box work. There isn't a whole lot going on in there, just engine crank, ignition, ground to kill, power trim wires, choke, and likely a tach signal wire. more
I currently own a Alumacraft 1653 tunnel hull with a side console and the Yamaha 50hp 2stroke on the back. I would like to convert it to a center console and move the console closer to the front of the boat for better balance. Do any of you know if this is possible and what would be the cost of doing this? I'm pretty sure I would need new extended cables and I'd want it done right, ie.. professionally.
When I bought this boat a year ago I actually wanted a center console, but the price on this guy was too good to pass up. Any suggestions?
My dad has a 16' fiberglass boat (Bonita?) that's open, with a small side console. It floats in about 2" of water, I've always thought it could be re-rigged and make a great shallow water reds/marsh boat.
How big of a job/bad of an idea is this? here
He finally said I could have it if I wanted it. If I take it I'd want to remove the side console and put in a center console. Floor/deck is solid, no soft spots. more
