Steel putty hardens quickly, in roughly an hour, and can be drilled, machined, and epoxied over, in addition to other things. It is a fantastic compound that has steel-like strength.

Very small amounts of water can leak into a pontoon boat from simple use, especially if the boat is older. In cases where condensation is noticed on the side of the boat or around joints and connections, checking for more water is a worthwhile task.

If any water can be heard sloshing around inside the pontoon, it is an issue. Other signs that water may be in the pontoon boat include:

The proper technique for getting water out of a pontoon boat can change quite a bit depending on the model and age of your boat. It is always worth checking your user manual to see if there are any specifications laid out before attempting to remove water. more

Repairing a pontoon boat leak with a compound steel putty is generally considered the much better option for home repairs and small leaks. The compound can be found at most marine shops or hardware stores due to its wide variety of uses.

Often, if a pontoon seems to be sitting lower than it should in the water, it is because there is a significant amount of weight around the back of the boat, where the engine almost always is. [links]

Yes it does. I'll raise the front of the trailer and remove the plugs from the pontoons and see if any water runs out. Should I leave the plugs out for a little while to let the foam dry out if any water comes out?

Again thanks for all of the information from everyone! [links]

I would check the toons for leaks in the forward end. You may have water logged foam in front. Does it sit on a trailer with the nose tipped down?

It is a playcraft with u-shape toons. I'll try to add some photos later today or tonight to show what I replaced on the front from what was there. [links]

It can essentially mechanically bond to the aluminum hull which is ideal. Its only notable disadvantage is that it is susceptible to abrasion so be careful or it could degrade long-term. here

Some things and some spaces are better left unfrozen. For smaller boats like bass boats or jon boats, I don’t think this is a great enough reason alone for flotation foam. more

I feel like this one most impacts small boaters on a day-to-day basis. If you have ever fished from an aluminum hull jon boat before, you know just how much sound is amplified. more

I believe a combination of pourable foam and closed-cell foam sheets is the ideal fit for most boats. That is my personal preference based on what I’ve seen using some other foam types as time and use passes. I will explain later how to combine these two types of foam for your boat.

This one probably won’t pertain to a lot of boaters and especially to small boats, but it is a reason for the addition of foam. more

Alot of toons set low in the back, you have the gas, battery, engine and normally alot of furniture, that is alot of weight and it will make it ride low. more

Thanks everyone for inputs. Plan on pulling out today to check for water. Never crossed my mind to check when I purchased or put into water. INCOOP: How can I move to another forum?

No, Godfrey has never put foam in thier tubes and the boat should set about half or less at the back alot less towards the front. more
