This is a very common and widely used product for repairing purposes. Water weld form a very strong and permanent bond. It is also water, oil, and gas resistant.

It isn't recommended by plumbers, and it doesn't work for plastic pipes, but you can temporarily stop a water leak in a metal pipe with epoxy putty. At least two different brands on the market -- JB Weld and Harvey's Epoxy Putty -- work equally well for the purposes of stopping leaks. Both adhere best to dry surfaces and are effective for blocking small leaks in copper and galvanized steel pipe. They need time to harden, and and while they are soft, they can't resist any pressure from the leak.

Turn off the water to the pipe with the leak and open two faucets connected to the line. One of the faucets should be below the leak. The purpose of opening the other one is to allow air into the pipe for more complete drainage.

Close the faucets and turn the water on slowly. Check the repair, and if it's still leaking, chip off the putty and try patching the leak again with a fresh application of new putty.

If you're going to use epoxy, you really need to scratch it up so it has something to stick to. more

I do like the idea of a low temperature filler but the idea of attempting this and possibly having more holes opening up and leaving me w/o heat altogether does not appeal to me. [links]

Has anyone had any luck with an epoxy that works on aluminum exchangers? Not interested in peoples opinion about how this should or should not be done because I do need to nurse this through to warmer weather. I've already tried a product Cotronics RK454. Spoke to the engineer at the company and said they've had great success for my type of repair as well as automotive type of cast aluminum repairs - regarding both high heat, pressurized fluid behind the repair and constantly heating and cooling where the repair is located. But it didn't work even after scuffing up the aluminum, wiping down w/denatured alcohol and allowing a 24 hr. cure time.

Yes, and I am a union pipefitter very familiar with brazing all types of metal. That said, the repair is on a vertical side of the block not horizontal and I'm not sure if the pin hole is a sand defect or caused by bad water quality but feel it is not the latter. here

If a engine block develops a crack, JB Weld can be used to seal up the crack and prevent the crack from sucking in air or leaking coolant. JB Weld is a type of epoxy that seals and hardens to close cracks and holes.

You can drill holes into or through your resin pieces. Then you can either glue in an eye-screw, or add a jumpring or a wire through the hole. … If your piece is colored, you can drill straight in and then glue in an eye-screw finding.
