electrical can be tested to see if that is a problem, along with compression, spark, and timing to see if all is in spec. at problem RPM
If it is then you need to look at fuel.
How old is the fuel?
Test the fuel pressure/vacuum to make sure the delivery is OK, as it sound like a pump, restriction, or air leak problem here

the fuel isn't old at all. I actually just ran a full tank through with a can of sea foam to try and remove any moisture that may be in there. im having the electrical tested today so should I have him check the othe things you mentioned. here

It’s important to note that if you plan on keeping and cleaning your old carburetor, removing months or years of buildup will take longer than a few minutes. This is definitely a task that involves a lot of time and patience, so it’s important to be mindful of that. here

Thankfully, you have all the tools you need if this were to be the case.

Of course, these are the steps you were to follow if you choose to keep your old carburetor, while some may choose to invest in a new one (link to Amazon).

As stated above, your best bet is to either replace your carburetor or simply give your equipment a good and thorough cleaning. I tend to lean toward cleaning first. It can save you some money and a lot of times, that’s all that is needed. more

I’m a big fan of Gumout Carb and Choke Cleaner (link to Amazon) as it quickly removes any built-up residue while also being quick drying. It’s ideal to be generous with this spray, and get inside every hole and passage in order to get the best results. [links]
