The container was last seen off Taiwan coast in 2009. When it was last spotted, the ship was flying the Indonesian flag. It sailed from Taiwan but all contacts with the ship were lost nine years ago. The authorities in the littoral countries believed that the ship was lost to the vast ocean.

The fishermen entered the ghost ship but found none aboard. The ship was empty. They informed the coastal police. The Myanmar Navy was informed. The officials inspected the ship and had no clue where this ship came from.

The paper also quoted general secretary of the Independent Federation of Myanmar Seafarers, U Aung Kyaw Linn as saying that the vessel was still in running condition. Linn said, "In my opinion, the ship was recently abandoned. There must be a reason (why it was abandoned)." more

For now though, the Sam Ratulangi has been seized by the Myanmar Navy until an investigation is completed. [links]

The ship was visible from the shore, but someone needed to come onboard to check it out (we can only imagine how terrifying that would have been). This mysterious vessel was discovered to be Sam Ratulangi PB 1600, and the last time anyone had heard from it had been years ago.

The Myanmar Navy were scratching their heads over the appearance of the Sam Ratulangi, but soon they had a clue that could lead them to answers. more

The Sittaung River isn’t generally used as a trade route due to strong currents, but it is used to float timber to the south of the country for export. The river is 260 miles in length, and generally only very small craft are agile enough to navigate its shallow waters.

Hopefully, the investigators will be able to discover where the boat has been drifting for all these years, and whether the ship’s cargo fell into the water, or whether it was stolen by pirates. Did the crew survive whatever made the boat fall off the radar for so long, or did they go down with the cargo? here

Many of these ghost ships cannot be traced, and this was also the case for the mysterious Tamaya 1. This oil tanker stood at a whopping 210-feet long, and shocked locals when it found its way onto a beach in Liberia in 2016.

As news of the unusual ghost ship made the rounds, the Myanmar Navy were soon drafted in to have a proper look at the Sam Ratulangi. They made their way to the ship to take a closer look at the vessel and soon realized that it had almost been completely covered by rust and rot.

As you make your way to the beach, you might notice that the shore is littered with debris. Much of the time, this is natural debris such as driftwood, seaweed, or even turtle shells and jellyfish.

They waited a whole three days before making their way to the scene and checking out the ship, and by that point, the ship had been vandalized. They eventually investigated the scene and came up with a few theories.

While it was a little rusty and obviously incredibly old, there didn’t seem to be anything inherently wrong with the engine. If someone wanted a little restoration project, they would be able to restore the engine to its former glory. So, what’s happened to the ship now? here

Over the years, “ghost ships” have bemused onlookers more often than you would believe, and things get even more bizarre when you realize that their crews are nowhere to be found. In fact, that’s exactly what happened when this mysterious ghost ship reappeared after a whopping nine years of being completely lost at sea and cut off from all contact…

Something entirely different washed up on the shore of Myanmar this year, a ship that had been reported missing nine years ago. Perhaps it was presumed to have sunk, so no one thought to go out and look for it, but the huge ship revealed itself after spending years at sea.

When the Navy inspected the front of the Sam Ratulangi, they noticed that the Independence wasn’t the first ship to come along and try and haul it away. There was a second line attached to the ship, indicating at some point in time another tugboat had attempted what the crew of the Independence had been doing, but they too must have cut the line before hauling it to a safe destination.
