The grinder I just built uses the 1HP farm duty motor from HF. The farm duty motor is totally enclosed. I didn't see a 1.5HP version of the motor. if I had, I'd have bought that instead. Anyway, as long as it is Farm Duty and not Compressor duty, I think you're correct that it would be totally enclosed and suited to the task.
