Deck boats are a great way to enjoy the water and this Sea Ray is one of the nicest boats for an enjoyable day on the water. This 240 Sundeck has only had one owner since new and the pride of ownership shows everywhere. The boat has never been kept in the water so it has no bottom paint. It has been stored at an in/out storage marina inside a building, so the only time the sun has been shining on the gelcoat and the upholstery has been on the days the boat has been on the water. Everything shows like on a much newer boat. The hull sides have minor scuff marks from docking etc. but for the age, any imperfections are minimal. Mechanically everything works and this boat is truly turnkey ready to be taken for a ride. She offers a huge amount of storage for all the water toys and gear, has two fresh water showers, a wet bar, a separate head compartment with a porta potti with a dock side pump out, fwd lounge seating, fwd and aft swim ladders, a large bimini top in very good condition, smart craft instrumentation for the 260 fuel injected Mercruiser 5.0 engine. Overall the boat is very nicely equipped and shouldn't disappoint as far as the condition goes. Many of these deck boats seem to have had rough lives, this one shows good care throughout the history. The biggest news about the Sea Ray 240 Sundeck is that it's available with outboard power.
On top of that, you lose a lot of swim platform territory, as well as transom seating/sunning space. When it comes to sheer watersports/partying/sun-worshipping space, the sterndriver version wins by a long shot. So at first, I felt disappointed by how much less transom and swim platform space the outboard version offered. That is, I felt that way until I nailed the throttle on the outboard boat and watched the GPS climb up to 59.6-mph. My test boat had an arch and a top, mind you, and I had over a half tank of fuel. Shed a little weight and aerodynamic resistance, and there’s not one iota of doubt that this is a 60-mph-plus boat. [links]
