Refinement is a Hinckley tradition. So, the fact that they chose to re-engineer the Sou'wester 42, the most successful cruising yacht in her class, should not be a surprise. Neither should be the fact that they sold five of the new MKIIs in the first six months of her introduction. Though the Sou'wester 42 has won the Northern Ocean Racing Trophy (IMS Division) three times, Hinckley enhanced the boat's proven performance by combining the SCRIMP system with Kevlar® hybrid composites making the hull and deck lighter and stronger. The MKII is an even more comfortable cruiser than her predecessor. The forward cabin, head, and the main salon have all been enlarged. At the helm, the coaming has been cut away to provide excellent outboard seating. The new steering pedestal includes the single lever engine controls and instrumentation, illuminated switch panel, compass binnacle, and beverage holders. All the essentials are within reach of the helmsman.

After 63 hulls, the most successful cruising yacht in her class has been re-engineered from stem to stem. Even though this design has won the Northern Ocean Racing Trophy (IMS Division) in 3 out of the last 6 years, Hinckley has found even more performance by combining the SCRIMP resin infusion system with Kevlar® hybrid composites. Weight taken from above the waterline has been put back in the form of additional ballast and the sail plan has been modified for easier shorthanding. All major bulkheads have been repositioned to enlarge the forward cabin, the head, and the main salon. The cockpit has been improved both in terms of comfort and function. Sheet winches have been repositioned for easier tending, outboard seating for the helmsman has been provided, and a new pedestal has been designed. Genoa tracks are now recessed to protect bare feet and provision has been made for cockpit electronics and instruments.
Forward of the galley, PATRIOT has twin staterooms with oversized lower single berths and Pullman berths above that fold down to form a settee. Both staterooms have Tempurpedic mattresses, hanging lockers, overhead hatches, portlights and en-suite heads that adjoin a shared stall shower. more
The full-width Owner’s Stateroom is fully aft with a centerline berth, custom circular seat to starboard, vanity and flat-screen TV forward and plenty of drawer and locker storage. There is an abundance of natural light and ventilation via overhead hatches and hull ports and the en-suite head with stall shower is forward to port. here

This was a production boat, 100 were made. Most of them have tiller steering but this one has the more expensive wheel steering option. The boat is a cold molded wood construction with fiberglass hull. Beautiful very roomy interior. When sailing a cat ketch there is way less work involved. you dont have to continually trim in a jib sail every time you tack. The boat just came out of the boatyard with 8k$ spent. Comes with a survey from only two weeks ago (Oct 19, 2019). The boat needs a new mast, but these boat dont have standing rigging so only the mast needs replacement. Go to Yachtworld.com there is another Herreshoff 31 with tiller steering instead of wheel steering currently for sale at 30,000$. So at 4300$ I know this boat is priced to be sold quick, even with it needing a mast. more

ELSA is the classic example of this beautifully maintained, 36 EP Hinckley. She offers comfortable, vee berth accommodation, full galley, and luxurious and spacious head. She has been very lightly used and is stored out of the water. ELSA also features great shallow water performance and sure feel handling as a result of the Yanmar and water jet package, along with joy stick control.
