First, a bit of background information: the Monaco Yacht Show is one of the biggest superyacht shows in the world. This year, there will be 125 yachts on display — 46 of which will be superyachts. There are also several other exhibitions for luxury yacht accessories.
The buyers showing up at the Monaco Yacht Show each year have so much money to spend on yachts that it's almost absurd.
We spoke with Laurence Shukor, a team member at the five-star Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo, who helps set up buyers with a personal yacht shopper for the show. Shukor shared with us the inside scoop on how the super wealthy secure the right superyacht:

In May the world of superyachts and motor sport come together for the Monaco Grand Prix. Every year the glamorous event draws some of the world’s largest superyachts and this year’s Grand Prix was no exception. More than 170 superyachts were spotted in and out of the harbour over the weekend. [links]
Of course the best place to watch all the action is in Port Hecules where the yachts in the prime berths are just metres away from the racetrack. More than 130 superyachts were in harbour on Thursday (May 27) so that guests could enjoy the Practice Day action where Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest pace.

This year, there will be 125 yachts on display — 46 of which will be superyachts. Yachts are priced based on the length of the ship, with them starting (yes, starting) at $1 million per meter (3 feet), said Laurence Shukor, a team member at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo who helps set up buyers with a personal yacht shopper.
