The surprising truth is that to be the proud owner of a secluded private island isn’t actually as expensive as you may think, with many available for far less than a city apartment. However, if you want to treat your loved ones to a full-service private island getaway (as more and more people are inclined to do as Covid-19 continues to impact travel and homeworking becomes the norm), or purchase a ready-made tourist resort, you should naturally expect to pay a significant price.

That's right - islands are even for sale in the US. Howard Island is a dream for anyone who adores the lakeside views that Michigan has to offer. While this island is not terribly large, it does sit roughly 12 miles from the border of Canada and does already have a fully-completed home on the land.
It even comes complete with a home - while it needs some TLC, the work is already mostly done for whoever ends up inhabiting this sandy cove. The entire island is covered in palm trees and surrounded by the blue waters the Caribbean is so well known for, and while it is a solitary island, the mainland isn't too far away.

The land itself is also historic, as it's been mostly untouched since roughly 1750. It's also close to some neat attractions, and those who don't live on Prince Edward Island will be thrilled to know there's plenty to do around this tiny riverside paradise. here
It's not something that can be done as easily as buying a home, of course, but that doesn't mean it's fully out of the question for some. Depending on where potential island-buyers look, it's possible to find an island for sale for under $300,000, and some are even under $100,000! That's a pretty lucrative offer for someone who idolizes movies such as Castaway and shows like LOST. While you probably won't time-travel on these or find a volleyball named Wilson, they are cheap, as far as islands go. Then again, you could always just rent a private island if purchasing one is too big a commitment.
Situated in the Prince Edward's Pinette River is Gillis Island. It's not nearly as isolated as many others for sale, but it is a little slice of heaven for those who want privacy, as well as access to the waterway. There's no end to the kayaking, boating, or swimming one could do on this island, and it's covered in lush trees and plenty of shrubbery for added privacy.
