You can even pre-cook the ribs in the pressure cooker and then transfer them to the grill or broiler for a final charring if you want. That certainly isn’t necessary, as you’ll soon find out. Barbecue Pork Ribs are absolutely succulent right out of the pressure cooker!

Note: Your own seasoning rub could be store bought, or you can try your own blend. A mixture of 1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard, 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder, and ½ teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper works well, or just salt and pepper will work just fine too. more

While the broiler heats, spoon off and discard the fat from the surface of the cooking liquid. Place the stove-top cooker over medium heat or turn the electric cooker to “brown” or “saute” and bring the stock to a vigorous simmer. Cook until the stock is reduced to 1/3 of the original volume, 8 to 10 minutes.

Pressure cooker ribs is absolutely my new go-to method. The ribs were falling off the bone tender at 25 minutes, just the way we like them. Removing the membrane from the backside of the ribs isn't difficult but many brands offer ribs pre-packaged with the membrane already removed. Also, most behind-the-counter butchers will do this for you if you ask. Glazing the ribs under the broiler yielded a "cooked on the grill" appearance with a nice caramelized glaze. more

If using an electric pressure cooker, such as an Instant Pot, cook at high pressure for 20 minutes for tender ribs or, if you prefer ribs that are falling-off-the-bone tender, cook for up to 30 minutes. When the timer goes off, turn the cooker off. Do not let the pressure cooker automatically switch to the “warm” setting. [links]

Baste the bone side of the ribs with some of the mustard sauce. Slide the ribs under the broiler until the sauce is bubbling, about 4 minutes. Remove the sheet pan from the oven, turn the ribs over, and baste with the remaining glaze. Return to the broiler until warmed through, about 6 minutes. Cut the ribs into 1- or 2-rib sections and serve. Originally published December 4, 2015. here

When considering which RIB to buy, you should inspect all the fixtures and fittings with merciless cynicism. They may look very attractive in the showroom, but are they resistant to rust? Are they properly through-bolted? Will they put up with extended abuse? Don’t be afraid to use plenty of force on backrests, frames and grab handles. If you can flex them with your hand, imagine what they will be like once the full weight of the body is multiplied by the G-force of a lumpy sea. more

Which Rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) to buy? RIB buying should be easy. In its simplest and most traditional form, we all know what to expect of a RIB - not least because most of us have used them as training craft. They are very predictable boats, with heavily built and relatively soft-riding hulls, wrapped from stem to stern in a large-diameter inflatable tube to add buoyancy, build confidence and absorb any minor knocks. They use jockey seats to aid support in a lively sea passage and to make the most of the limited internal space brought about by the encroachment of the inflatable collar. And while size-for-size, a good traditional RIB boat offers serious seagoing credentials, it often lacks those leisure boat refinements the pampered modern buyer tends to demand.

The choice of RIBs on offer is now huge. For traditionalists, there are still simple, hardy boats from the likes of Ribcraft, Redbay, Pacific and Delta, while for playboy sophisticates, exalted names like Hunton, Scorpion and Pascoe are well able to produce the goods. But whatever type of RIB you favour, just take your time and do your research - and if a boat lacks a certain feature, make sure you request it. In today’s leisure-sensitive RIB market, the builder may well be happy to oblige. See our piece on some of the best RIBs on the market.

Most people like to think that dealing with a bruise is as simple as slapping some red meat on it and allowing it to take care of itself. While this might be true in the movies, sometimes bruises require a little more…specialized help. That is, real science and real treatment. In today’s article, we are going to cover the topic of bruised ribs. Specifically, the symptoms, common situations that cause bruised ribs and what to do with bruised ribs. here

Because the rib-cage takes up quite a bit of torso space, it often takes the brunt of the force during an accident or fall. Here are some of the most common ways people have bruised their ribs:

Often confused with broken ribs, bruised ribs occur when you injure your ribs but they do not break. Think of it as the similarity between a sprained wrist and a broken one. While bruised ribs are still something to be taken seriously, it is often something that you can deal with yourself, in the comfort of your own home, unless you start dealing with shortness of breath, severe pain and discomfort that may require a doctor’s consult. Some of the common symptoms include:

As we mentioned above, bruised ribs can often be taken care of from the comfort of your home, without medical attention. This should only be done if you know/suspect your ribs are bruised and not broken. If you have suspicion that they might be broken, or you have difficulty breathing, pain in the chest, etc, a doctor should have a look to make sure that you haven’t injured yourself more seriously. Here are a few ways you can treat your bruised ribs:
