I bought a 2020DC and overall its in decent shape for the price I paid, but one of the things that I want to fix is the gas cap. Apparently at some point the PO lost the factory black plastic gas cap with the red pop-up and replaced it with a chromed stainless one, but the stainless doesn't sit down flush to the o-ring so I'm not convinced its a great seal. He wasn't either and put duck tape over it to protect it (yuck!). Here is what I have:

I've already tried a couple different ones from West Marine that didn't work any better than the current steel one. Then I figured I'd just go ahead and replace the whole filler neck and started to pry it up but couldn't get it any higher. There is no access to get my hand to the underside so I figured I'd try one more effort on here to see if anyone knows where to find the factory plastic ones. It looks like it says Mikro on it but I've had no luck with searches.
You have lost your gas cap and need something to cover your car's gas tank to insure gas fumes don't escape, leading to air pollution, and your gas does not evaporate at a quicker rate. There are at least three steps you can take, depending on where you are and what resources you have when you discover your gas cap is missing.
Place a thick rag or a thick washcloth around the gas opening and secure tightly with a heavy-duty rubber band.
Buy a temporary gas cap at your car dealership. Be sure to get the right type and make sure it fits properly.
