I have the motor dis-assembled, where can i locate numbers on the block to confirm the year it was made?

I see no water plugs. can we at least narrow it down a bit by the motor cover and decals? I believe its a 1995 or 96.

found the round tag on the block of this 8 hp outboard. Number is 1013925. more

This is an 8 hp four-stroke manual start (carbureted), being sold by a local dealer on consignment. Dealer 'thinks' it is a 2008 motor. Certainly looks in great shape. Just seems a bit suspicious that the label should be scraped off.

The model 25SH indicates a 1987.
