We made MANY of the boat windshields on the boats in the water today. We still have the original molds for most of the ones we have made. Therefore, we have the capability to make you a replacement windshield that looks just like your original windshield. Mounting hardware is included with all new windshields. [links]
**** PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANY WINDSHIELDS THAT GO IN METAL FRAMES. WE DO NOT MAKE GLASS WINDSHIELDS THAT MOUNT IN METAL FRAMES AND ARE SORRY BUT WE CANNOT ASSIST YOU IN YOUR WINDSHIELD NEEDS. more
Ok thanks guys, if I can get this silly chevy pop-up out of the way, oh, ok, better now, ok since it seems that I would be able to tint the lexan, probably gonna try lexan for my project, I had another question, im going to use a couple heat guns to bend the lexan, its only a slight curve (about like your heel, or less) I dont know the exact number, but I digress, my question is when I use the proper sized dowls, do I need to wrap the jig dowls with something (cloth) to ensure a proper bend with minimal etching or marks in the lexan. Thanks any input would be great!
Both will scratch equally, the difference is where you could buff out scratches in plexi you will not be able to do it in lexan (polycarbonate = lexan = GE brand of polycarb). The other difference is that polycarbonate is impact resistant but acrylic (Plexiglas) is much more UV resistant. You can buy coated polycarbonate like MR-10 (GE brand) or SAR (scratch abrasion resistant= HYZOD brand) for little more than regular stuff and it will be much harder to scratch. Bean in plastic business for 18 years, most of the windows I cut for customers is from polycarbonate for safety reasons. PM me if you want more info, if all you need is two 12" X 24" I might be able to help out. Good luck. [links]
I tinted the interior cabin windows of one of my boats, worked just fine for many years. I'm not so sure I'd do a windshield with much more than 30% tint. Professionally installed, it will stick.
Re: Tinting plexiglass, or lexan.
Hi relcyo. If she were mine. I would purchase tinted poly for your shield. Comes in colors and shades. Plexi? good. Lexan? better. For me plexi works better for forming than lexan for a beginner. here

Using the bone tool, smooth down the edges of the tint. Take the hard card over them as well, to make certain that they will stay in place.
One final step of the cleaning process is to go over the glass with a squeegee from top to bottom. This is your final opportunity to remove all traces of residue on the window. [links]
Applying boat window tint to the windows of your vessel has many benefits. With tinted windows you increase the privacy, protection, UV light filtration and the look is very sharp. There are many reasons for wanting to have tinted windows on your boat, but this is not a simple do-it-yourself task. Tinting windows requires practice and skill. You need to follow the directions exactly and be extremely precise with both measuring and cutting. Even professionals find the task difficult, so please assess your own skill level before proceeding.
Carefully apply the tint to the window. Be careful not to allow any bubbles to develop under the surface. Take the application process very slow and easy. Do not rush as this is the most difficult part of the process.
Using the soapy mixture, spray onto the interior of the windows and clean with a sponge, making sure to remove all dirt. You will want to apply the tint to the interior windows and you want to make sure they are completely clean before tinting. here
Remove any left over residue using a straight razor. Be very careful with this sharp tool, but be precise about leaving anything behind. It is imperative that the glass be completely cleaned. here
So can you tint boat windshield? The answer is Yes, you can definitely do it. Many boaters tint their windows to help reduce the heat inside the boat. Others only do it for looks.
You can also do it yourself and save some money. There are a few simple ways to accomplish this. You can try the hair drier method, the heat gun method, or the portable steamer method. With all these methods you are basically applying heat to the film which heats the glue, making it easy to pull off. Then spray some Windex on the glass to help remove any excess adhesive.
How Much Does It Cost To Tint Boat Windshield? The price to have your windshield tinted varies a lot depending on location, size of boat’s windshield, and complexity of the job. Tinting a small flat surface will be a simple job, and shouldn’t be too pricey. Tinting a curved glass surface is a more complicated job and will be more expensive. [links]
