The Ezy-Stik III has incorporated many of the outstanding and time proven features of the Model 840. These great features include a one piece stainless steel drive spool, and reinforced composite housing. The Model 870 has been developed due to the increased demand for a system with quicker response and shorter lock-to-lock travel distance. The quicker turning ratio provides a faster response and a shorter travel distance from lock to lock. more

Due to the fact that 4-stroke engines transfer more negative torque feedback to the operator, if the engine is a 4-stroke over 40 HP, the Ezy-Stik II Model 840 should be considered over the Model 870. Although the 870 has a horsepower rating of 70HP/90HP Jet, it is not recommended for 4-stroke engines over 40 HP.

Cable routings (such as those found on pontoon boats) may vary from this drawing. Confirm length by laying a garden hose or similar object) along cable path and measure run from wheel to engine connection point.

Hit hard but not too hard. here
So many people have spoken of their success with various penetrating oils, I can't even keep track of them anymore. Please view the comments at the end.

This step is dedicated to The Lightning Stalker who says "there is just no replacement for the "heat it and beat it" method". Sexy times. here

My theory here is that two pieces of metal have rusted into each other under compression so a sudden shockwave passing through the material will cause a sort of whiplash effect allowing the parts to jump apart for an instant. They may even loosen themselves a little. here

That said as mentioned above stick steering is very rare any more. I've had 3 stick steer boats, a tri hull, an odd skeeter flat bottom glasser, and a flat bottom jon. All were 70's era boats with original controls except the jon which looked to be a hack job with a drum and pulley cable system. here
There is not a huge demand for stick steering, so very few manufacturers are out there.
EzyGlide may be the only one left.

I haven't personally seen a stick steer boat in over 20 years tho I recently did a bit of searching when I had considered using one for a kicker motor and ez-glide was all I could find. I ruled em out due to the cost and decided to go a different way. here

You might consider searching ebay for used too but I think finding one that isn't used up might be tough. here

yep this is THE place to post this question. There is nothing jon boat specific about the steering system. in fact even the term jon boat is debatable as different people will give you a different definition which seems to be a regional thing.
