Fishfinder 160C's included dual-beam transducer provides excellent shallow-water performance,
and the wide viewing angle lets you see fish even off the sides of the boat. The 160C also offers
Ultrascroll™, which refreshes the screen with lightning speed so you always see the most up-to-
date information. You can manually adjust the gain or set to Auto Gain, which adjusts the level of
detail you see automatically. [links]

I just replied to a more recent thread asking for a good fishfinder, by pointing out NOT to get the Garmin 160C! [links]
Anybody know what the problem could be. Please Help with any ideas. THANKS here
You have way, way too much stuff going on there to get a good reading. What does the paint look like on the underside of the hull? Take a picture of the bottom of the hull looking forward.

The problem is with the unit - they're rubbish. more
very nice. I need to read the book to know how to set it. Looked like new. marks fish and terrain features very good. here
While I'll admit there are much better fishfinders on the market, they are also much more expensive. This one does a more than adequate job at a very modest price. I'm pleased with my purchase for the low cost. The screen is bright enough on a sunny day and the response time is very fast. It works as advertised and was easy to install. Garmin is a leader in the field and makes a high quality product. I highly recommend the 160C unless you have many more hundreds of dollars to spend or you are a professional fisherman. The 160C (color screen) is an excellent purchase for the weekend, hobby fisherman. The unit mounts and dismounts quickly & easily so you don't have to leave it on the boat. The boat speed (an extra cost option) and water temperature features are a plus!
Well what to say about Garmin. Other than that the screen is a little small I can find anything bad about this GPS. It's really fast and very helpful. But then again what more can you as for the whole combo is only $415 buck. You get one great fishfinder and GPS. So in my oppinion I give it 2 thumb up. here
